The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has waived additional filing fees for 13 major e-forms due to a planned three-week shutdown of the MCA21 portal. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) launched the MCA21 portal to offer secure and simple online access to corporate services. It automates compliance and enforcement under the Companies Act, 1956, Companies Act, 2013, and the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008. The portal is also designed for smooth interoperability with the National e-Governance Services Delivery Gateway (NSDG).

Recently, Rajkot transformed Nakrawadi, a 20-acre old dumpsite with 16 lakh tonnes of legacy waste, into a green urban forest. This was done under the “Lakshya Zero Dumpsite” initiative of the Swachh Bharat Mission led by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). The initiative aims to clear old waste sites and create “Garbage Free Cities”. The Rajkot model planted 2.35 lakh native and fast-growing trees using the Miyawaki technique.

India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), fully owned by the Government of India under the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, has won the prestigious Digital Payments Award 2024–25 from the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance. India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) secured the first position among all Payments Banks in the Performance Index for Financial Year 2024–25 and received a ‘Special Mention’ for 2023–24. It was launched on September 1, 2018. IPPB aims to provide accessible, affordable, and trusted banking to every Indian, especially the unbanked and underbanked.

Recently, the Union Education Ministry formed a panel led by Vineet Joshi to reduce student dependency on coaching centres and review competitive exams. Vineet Joshi is the Chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The panel has nine members and includes representatives from Indian Institute of Technology Madras, National Institute of Technology Trichy, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), along with school principals. Its goal is to suggest ways to reduce the coaching culture and check the fairness of entrance exams.

Recently, the United States deployed its B-2 Spirit stealth bombers to carry out precision airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure in a major military escalation. The B-2 Spirit is a long-range stealth bomber operated by the United States Air Force. It first flew in 1989 and was officially inducted in 1993. Currently, 19 B-2 bombers are in active service. It is designed and maintained by Northrop Grumman Corporation.

Recently, as Israel’s conflict with Iran intensifies and threats grow from various regional actors, global focus has turned to Israel’s nuclear deterrent known as the Samson Option. The Samson Option refers to Israel’s alleged strategy of launching massive nuclear retaliation if the country faces an existential threat. The name comes from the biblical figure Samson, who destroyed himself and his enemies, symbolizing total retaliation. Israel follows a policy called amimut, meaning deliberate ambiguity in Hebrew, where it neither confirms nor denies possessing nuclear weapons.

Recently, Noida International Airport (NIA) partnered with Anlon Technology Solutions to introduce India’s first indigenously developed Runway Rubber Removal Machine (RRM) named Cleanjet RRM. This eco-friendly machine is designed to enhance runway safety by removing rubber deposits and other contaminants using ultra-high-pressure water jets without abrasive chemicals.

Recently, France’s national blood agency, the French Blood Establishment (EFS), discovered a new blood group system called “Gwada negative,” officially recognised by the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT). It is scientifically named EMM-negative and registered as ISBT042. The name “Gwada negative” refers to the Guadeloupean origin of the woman who carries this rare blood type. This blood group is defined by the absence of the EMM antigen, a high-incidence antigen usually present in almost all humans.

Recently, a rare sighting of a Himalayan brown bear with its family in Nelong and Jadung Valleys created excitement in Gangotri National Park, Uttarakhand. The Himalayan brown bear is the largest mammal in the high-altitude Himalayas and one of the oldest brown bear lineages. In India, it is found in fragmented alpine habitats of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Its conservation status is Critically Endangered under the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List.

Adani Group has recently commissioned India’s first off-grid 5 megawatt (MW) green hydrogen pilot plant in Kutch, Gujarat. The plant has been developed by Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL), which is the clean energy arm of Adani Enterprises Limited. An off-grid green hydrogen plant produces hydrogen using electrolysis powered entirely by renewable sources like solar or wind and is not connected to the main power grid. This plant runs fully on solar energy and includes a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for continuous operation.
