The Indian Air Force (IAF) is planning to acquire the ‘Ice Breaker’ missile from Israel. The Ice Breaker is a long-range, air-launched cruise missile with precision guidance and autonomous capabilities. It is developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, a leading Israeli defense company. The missile can be deployed from various platforms, including jet fighters, light attack aircraft, helicopters, small ships, and ground vehicles.

Recently, the Government of India launched the Ayush Nivesh Saarthi portal during the Ayush Stakeholder and Industry Interaction Meet at Vanijya Bhawan in New Delhi. It is a dedicated digital platform for investors developed by the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) in collaboration with Invest India. It aims to boost India’s traditional wellness systems as a strong economic sector. The portal combines policy details, incentive schemes, ready-to-invest projects, and real-time assistance in one interface.

Recently, on the occasion of World Environment Day 2025, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change launched the National Plastic Waste Reporting Portal. This digital platform captures the entire plastic waste management process, including collection by waste pickers, processing, and final disposal. It enables real-time, nationwide access to data from Urban Local Bodies and District Panchayats across India. The portal helps in better planning, monitoring, and implementation of plastic waste management strategies.

Recently, Bihar inaugurated the Bikram Lock Canal Bank solar power project in Patna under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali campaign to promote green energy. This project helps reduce pollution caused by traditional energy sources and supports sustainable development. It is set up along a 2-kilometer stretch of the main canal at Bikram in Patna district. The solar plant has an installed capacity of 2 megawatts and covers 5.7 acres of land provided by the Water Resources Department.

The Union Home Minister launched the Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag (BBA), or Indian Languages Section, on June 6, 2025, to promote Indian languages in administration. Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag aims to reduce the dependence on foreign languages and support decision-making in mother tongues. It will strengthen all local languages and support linguistic diversity for national development. It will support translation across Indian languages, with the help of the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC).

Residents of Milam village in Uttarakhand face severe access problems after an avalanche damaged the Bailey bridge over the Gaokha River. A Bailey bridge is a modular bridge with pre-built parts for quick assembly. It was invented by English civil engineer Donald Coleman Bailey in 1941. Bailey bridges are strong, portable, and versatile, designed for fast construction in tough conditions without heavy machinery.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi completes 11 years in office, the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) has completed 9 years, improving maternal health across India. It was launched in June 2016 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. PMSMA provides free and quality antenatal care (ANC) to pregnant women every month. India’s Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) has reduced from 130 in 2014–16 to 80 in 2021–23, showing strong impact.

Researchers in Japan have created a new plastic that dissolves in seawater within hours, helping fight ocean pollution. It was developed by the RIKEN Center for Emergent Matter Science and the University of Tokyo. A lab demo in Wako city showed a plastic piece dissolving in salt water after stirring for one hour. The plastic breaks into safe components that are processed by natural bacteria, leaving no microplastics behind. It is as strong as petroleum-based plastic but is non-toxic, non-flammable, and does not emit carbon dioxide (CO₂). In soil, it breaks down in about 200 hours.

Guatemalan authorities recently evacuated over 500 people as Fuego Volcano released gas and ash. Volcan de Fuego, meaning “Volcano of Fire” in Spanish, is located in Guatemala and is one of the most active volcanoes in Central America. Fuego Volcano has erupted over 60 times since the year 1524, showing a long history of intense volcanic activity.

Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame 2025, becoming the 11th Indian to receive this prestigious global honour. He is among seven cricketing legends, including two women players, selected in the 2025 inductee list. The ICC Cricket Hall of Fame recognises legendary players for their historic contributions to cricket across generations and countries. It was launched on January 2, 2009 by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in partnership with the Federation of International Cricketers’ Associations (FICA).
