The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has inked a Rs.500 crore contract with ICOMM Tele, for the procurement of 1,035 numbers of 5/7.5 Ton Radio Relay Communication equipment containers. The delivery of the containers is scheduled to commence from the current Financial Year 2023-24.
These containers will be utilized to provide a protected environment for communication equipment to function in a failsafe and reliable manner.

Notes:
‘Fish kill’ refers to the abrupt and unforeseen demise of numerous fish or other aquatic creatures within a limited timeframe, predominantly concentrated in a specific area.
It was recorded recently in Texas. Among the dead fish in the shores, most were menhaden but there were also some sharks, trout, bass, catfish and stingrays.

The government has formed an expert panel, headed by former law secretary T K Vishwanathan, to establish India as a global center for international arbitration and alleviate the strain on courts.
The panel will propose reforms to the Arbitration and Conciliation Act. The committee, consisting of Attorney General N Venkataramani, has been established by the Department of Legal Affairs of the Union Law Ministry.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has imposed restrictions on online bond platform providers, prohibiting them from offering products other than listed debt securities.
However, SEBI has allowed these platforms to offer specific securities such as Government Securities, Treasury Bills, listed Sovereign Gold Bonds, listed municipal debt securities, and listed securitized debt instruments.

India’s lead badminton players Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty created history by becoming the first doubles pair from the country to win the Indonesia Open title, which is currently a Super 1000 event on the BWF World Tour.
The duo defeated world champions Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in straight-games to clinch their first Super 1000 title.

Egypt has retained World Squash Championship, after beating Malaysia 2-1 in the final in Chennai.
The third place was shared jointly by hosts India and Japan. India was beaten by Malaysia 3-0 in the semi-final. Eight countries took part in the World Squash Championship.

Japan recently approved a bill with the objective of fostering awareness and acceptance of the LGBT community. However, concerns have been raised regarding the absence of human rights safeguards in the legislation and the possibility of reinforcing specific forms of discrimination.

Ex Khaan Quest 2023 is a multilateral peacekeeping joint exercise that is currently being held in Mongolia. It involved the participation of military contingents and observers from around 20 countries.
President of Mongolia inaugurated the Exercise, which is co-sponsored by Mongolian Armed Forces (MAF) and United States Army Pacific Command (USARPAC).

Microplastics are tiny particles of plastic debris that are smaller than 5 millimeters in size. Researchers have estimated that humans inhale close to 16.2 bits of microplastic every hour, which is enough to make a credit card over the week.
This accumulation of microplastics over the span of a week is equivalent to the size of a credit card.

The Hindu Kush Himalaya region extends over a distance of 3,500 km (2,175 miles), spanning across Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan. According to a recent report, it is projected that 75% of the snow in the Hindu Kush Himalaya region will vanish entirely, leading to severe consequences such as hazardous floods and water scarcity for the 240 million inhabitants residing in the mountainous area.
