European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecast (ECMWF) recently announced that the average global temperatures during the initial days of June exceeded pre-industrial averages by more than 1.5 degrees Celsius.
This occurrence marks the first time that the 1.5 degree Celsius threshold has been surpassed during the summer season.

Roger Payne, a famous biologist, has passed away recently. He is known for discovering that the whales could sing.
Payne made the discovery in 1967 during a research trip to Bermuda when a navy engineer provided a recording of curious underwater sounds documented while listening for Russian submarines. Payne identified the haunting tones as songs whales sing to one another.

The Dugdh Sankalan Sathi Mobile App was launched recently by the Union Minister of Heavy Industries Dr.Mahendra Nath Pandey in Mussorie, Uttarakhand.
The app was developed by Rajasthan Electronics & Instruments Limited (REIL), a Mini Ratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Heavy Industries. This mobile app aims to improve the quality of milk, foster transparency among stakeholders, and streamline operations at the grassroots village level, including milk cooperative societies.

The Congress government in Karnataka has announced the repeal of the State’s Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Act, 2022, which is popularly known as the anti-conversion law.
The State Cabinet also decided to reverse the changes made to Kannada and Social Studies school textbooks last year, including lessons on Hindutva ideologues.

Kerala University has announced the list of undergraduate (UG) programmes that will be piloted in the four-year degree mode this academic year.
The University Institute of Technology (UIT), managed by Kerala University, will offer a four-year B.Com (Professional) course. The courses include Languages and Communication Skill, Honours in Political Science and Public Administration, and Honours in Life Sciences.

The Government of Pakistan, has recently received USD 1 billion from its close ally China to support its critically low foreign reserves.
The funds were received by the State Bank of Pakistan. Pakistan’s economy is at the verge of default and the IMF is pushing the country to fulfil its many demands for providing bailout package.

The “Intersolar Europe 2023” Exhibition was held in Germany. The event witnessed the participation of the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA).
Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) participated in the exhibition held in Munich, Germany. The pavilion showcased IREDA’s initiatives in financing renewable energy projects, promoting energy efficiency, and supporting the growth of renewable energy sector in India.

The latest edition of the Food Outlook Report was released recently by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
The report revealed that there is a significant decline in food imports by most vulnerable countries. It also estimates that the global food bill will rise to USD 1.98 trillion in 2023, up 1.5 percent from 2022.
