A celt, belonging to the neolithic period, was recently discovered in Poothinatham village in Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu.
Archaeological excavations are being carried out by Tamil Nadu’s Department of Archaeology in the village. It was a significant discovery as the celt was used as either a plough or an axe, and was made of Doloraid stone.

Notes:
Nitin Agarwal, a 1989-batch IPS officer of Kerala cadre, was appointed the new Director-General of the Border Security Force (BSF).
Agarwal replaces Pankaj Kumar Singh, who retired on December 31. Central Reserve Police Force DG Sujoy Lal Thaosen led BSF in an additional capacity since Singh’s retirement.

Australia scripted history as they became the first men’s team in world cricket to win an International Cricket Council (ICC) world title in all three formats.
Australia achieved the feat when they defeated India in the final of the World Test Championship 2021-23 at The Oval to become the new world champions of the Test Cricket.

India’s retail inflation got reduced further in May to a 20-month low of 4.25%, from 4.7% in April, with price rise in food items faced by consumers moderating to 2.91%.
This is the third successive month that inflation has remained below the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI’s) upper tolerance limit of 6%.

The Union Minister of Education and Skill Development Dharmendra Pradhan has flagged off Gabon’s first Agri- SEZ project, at New Delhi. The project will be implemented by AOM group with Centurion University as the technical and knowledge partner
Under this project, 30 farmers and 20 B.Sc./M.Sc. Agri / B.Tech/M.Tech Engineering students from Gajapati district will be travelling together as agri-technical and technical consultants for the agriculture SEZ.

Wihu Kuh festival is celebrated by Tangsa Tribe in Arunachal Pradesh. The Tangsa tribe is a community known for their agricultural customs and practices.
Wihu Kuh, means “paddy transplantation festival,” which marks the beginning of the agricultural season in the region.

The government has decided to cease the sale of rice and wheat from the central pool through the Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS) to state governments.
This decision will have an impact on certain states, such as Karnataka, which provide free grains to the underprivileged. The decision is aimed at curbing inflation and ensuring adequate stock levels.

The National Time Release Study (TRS) Report 2023 is released by Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).
Time Release Study (TRS) is a performance measurement tool which aims to present quantitative measure of the cargo release time (i.e) the time taken from arrival of the cargo at the Customs station to its out of charge for domestic clearance in case of imports and arrival of the cargo at the Customs station to the eventual departure of the carrier in case of exports.

The Indian Navy conducted an outreach programme at Ladakh named “Julley Ladakh” (Hello Ladakh), to awareness about the Indian Navy in Ladakh. The programme included a 5000km Motorcycle Expedition.
The core objectives of the programme are to Celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Conduct Awareness drives at Schools/ Colleges about career opportunities in Indian Navy and to showcase Nari Shakti in the region.

Notes:
The inaugural edition of India’s first-ever Women’s Kabaddi League (WKL) recently commenced in Dubai.
The league consists of eight teams, featuring a total of 96 players, each representing Indian states. The victorious team will be awarded a prize of approximately half a million dirhams (equivalent to 1 crore INR).
