Sabang port in Indonesia is situated 700 km from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Recently, India and Indonesia completed a joint feasibility study on the development of this port.
The successful development of this port would allow India easier access to the Malacca Straits, a narrow stretch of the sea between Indonesia and Malaysia and one of six chokepoints along the world’s maritime trading routes.

The Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) is the largest public health initiative in history. It was founded in 1988.
Recently Cameroon, Chad and Niger have initiated Africa’s largest polio vaccination campaign since 2020 with the support from WHO via the GPEI.

The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has granted approval to include TOEFL test scores as a valid option for the Student Direct Stream program in Canada.
The Student Direct Stream (SDS) is a program designed to accelerate the processing of study permit applications for international students intending to enroll in designated learning institutions for post-secondary education in Canada.

The Asian Development Bank recently launched a new country partnership strategy (CPS) for India.
During 2023–2027, ADB operations in India will focus on accelerating structural transformation and job creation, promoting climate-resilient growth, and deepening social and economic inclusiveness.

Canadian philosopher Ian Hacking has passed away recently. He is famed for his contributions to the philosophy of science, probability and mathematics.
Professor Hacking wrote several significant works on the philosophy and history of probability, including “The Taming of Chance” (1990).

The Union Cabinet recently approved the formation and the empowerment of an Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) to create the “world’s largest grain storage plan in the cooperative sector”, with an outlay of Rs 1 lakh crore.
This objective will be achieved by converging 8 ongoing schemes of 3 ministries. Ministry of Cooperation will implement a pilot project in at least 10 selected districts.

The Draft Aircraft Bill, 2023 has been proposed by the Civil Aviation Ministry after reviewing the existing Aircraft Act, 1934.
It aims to simplify the regulations of India’s aviation sector. It gives enough powers to administer the regulatory role to statutory body, such as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, meeting regulatory challenges in current scenarios.

The National Mission for Mentoring (NMM) is an initiative aimed at creating a pool of outstanding professionals willing to provide mentoring for school teachers and promote their professional development.
National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) launched NMM in Pilot mode in selected 30 Central Schools across the country. As part of this initiative, the NCTE organized a capacity building workshop for 60 mentors.

Formation water is the waste water which is disposed during the crude oil excavation and processing.
A mixture with plant-based biomaterial, biosurfactant, and NPK fertilizer is found to restore this water. It was discovered by scientists of the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST).
