A Submarine mud volcano is an underwater geological structure that was formed after the constant expulsion of gas or fluids like methane from the seabed.
Scientists have recently spotted a submarine mud volcano close to Norway’s Bear Island in Barents Sea. Bear Island is the southernmost island of the Norwegian Svalbard archipelago.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the first Vande Bharat Express in Northeast India. It will travel from Assam’s Guwahati to West Bengal’s New Jalpaiguri.
The Vande Bharat Express will operate six days a week (except Tuesdays) and will cut down the travel time between Guwahati and New Jalpaiguri  by one hour.

Gomphonema rajaguruii is a newly discovered species of oxygen-supplying algae. It is named after a veteran geo-archaeologist, the late Professor S N Rajaguru.
Gomphonema rajaguruii is a freshwater diatom species. The finding is unique because it shows the characteristics of two genus — Gomphonema and Gomphoneis.

International Organic Mahotsav-2023 is being organized from June 2 to 4 in Gadiraju Palace in Visakhapatnam.
The Rythu Sadhikara Samstha (RySS) is organising the event, which will connect farmers practicing natural farming methods and potential consumers of these crops.

The Union Cabinet has approved the City Investments to Innovate, Integrate and Sustain 2.0 (CITIIS 2.0).
CITIIS 2.0 is a program conceived by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in partnership with the French Development Agency (AFD), KfW, the European Union (EU), and National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA). The program will run for a period of four years, from 2023 till 2027.

Brazil’s lower house of Congress approved Bill 490- a new land bill that restricts the new recognition of ancestral land of indigenous people in Brazil.
The bill would strip the environment and Indigenous people ministries of some powers, weakening their oversight of environmental protections and the demarcation of Indigenous lands.

The 11th edition of the World of Work report was released recently by the International Labour Organisation.
According to this report, in 2023, the global unemployment is expected to decline below pre-pandemic level to 5.3 percent.

AIIMS Nagpur received the NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers) accreditation recently.
It is the first of all AIIMS to achieve this feat. The NABH accreditation is recognized globally as a standard for healthcare excellence.
