The British-era 110 MW Shanan hydropower project is situated at Jogindernagar in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.
Commissioned in 1932, the Shanan hydroelectric powerhouse was built under a 99-year lease. Its lease is being disputed between Punjab and Himachal Pradesh governments.

A training launch of a Medium-Range Ballistic Missile, Agni-1, was successfully carried out by the Strategic Forces Command from APJ Abdul Kalam Island, in Odisha.
In October last year, India successfully fired ‘Agni Prime’ – a new generation of ballistic missiles – from off the coast of Odisha.

Galleri test is a multi-cancer blood test that can detect more than 50 types of cancer. The test effectively detected tumors in 66.67% of the 5,000 people in England and Wales.
In 85% of those positive cases, it also pinpointed the original site of cancer. The Galleri test looks for distinct changes in bits of genetic code that leak from different cancers.

The Japanese Parliament Diet’s upper chamber recently approved a legislation to tackle loneliness and social isolation. It will come to effect on April 1 next year.
In a survey conducted by the government in 2022 for people age 16 or over nationwide, 40.3% of all respondents said that they had felt lonely.

The Vigyan Jyoti is a unique week-long programme launched by the Department of Science & Technology to address the underrepresentation of women in different fields of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
It witnessed the participation of 160 girls from rural parts of Maharashtra, Bihar and Odisha. Since its launch in 2020, only 30,451 girl students of Class-9-12 inclining towards STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) for higher studies enrolled in the initiative.

Dubai Successfully Trials Medication Delivery via Drones with collision avoidance technology and real-time monitoring.
The trial, conducted at Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) in partnership with Fakeeh University Hospital. ‘Dubai Programme to Enable Drone Transportation,’ was initiated by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

Shangri-La Dialogue was held in Singapore recently. It is organised by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) and participated by 41 countries.
During this conference, Germany’s Defence Minister recent announced that the country will be sending two warships to the Indo-Pacific in 2024.
