The Vigyan Jyoti is a unique week-long programme launched by the Department of Science & Technology to address the underrepresentation of women in different fields of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
It witnessed the participation of 160 girls from rural parts of Maharashtra, Bihar and Odisha. Since its launch in 2020, only 30,451 girl students of Class-9-12 inclining towards STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) for higher studies enrolled in the initiative.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the first phase of ‘Shiv Srishti’, a theme park based on the life of Shivaji Maharaj in Pune, Maharashtra.
The Maharashtra government recently announced that it will provide Rs 50 crore for the construction of Shiva Srishti. It will be constructed at the base of Raigad fort.

India Rankings 2023 was released recently by Minister of State for Education and External Affairs. It is based on the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) developed by the Ministry of Education in 2015.
Indian Institute of Technology Madras retains its 1st position in Overall Category for fifth consecutive year, i.e. 2019 to 2023 and in Engineering for eighth consecutive year, i.e. from 2016 to 2023.

The CA Institute’s Central Council has approved the renewal of the existing mutual recognition agreement (MRA) with CPA Canada and CPA Ireland.
The Central Council has also approved the renewal of MRA/MoUs with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF), the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (Tanzania) and Qatar Financial Centre Authority.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), along with the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), hosted the International Conference on Spacecraft Mission Operations (SMOPS-2023).
The conference aims to facilitate discussions among space agencies, industry partners, start-ups, and academia regarding advancements in space mission operations and ground segment automation.

Teamlease Edtech, which is a company specializing in learning solutions, has collaborated with Skill India Mission, to launch a platform named Digivarsity.
This initiative aims to enhance students’ employability by enabling potential employers to provide training while they are still in college. The firm aims to set up collaborations between employers and students in banking, ecommerce, manufacturing, logistics etc.

Recently South Korea recently announced that 4 Russian and 4 Chinese military aircraft have entered its ADIZ recently.
An air defense identification zone (ADIZ) is the airspace of a country plus an additional wider area over land and water in which a country tries to identify, locate, and control any civil aircraft in the interest of national security.

Françoise Gilot is a renowned painter known for her relationship with Pablo Picasso. She recently passed away at the age of 101.
Her memoir, “Life with Picasso,” was published in 1964 and it became an international best seller. Her painting “Paloma à la Guitare” (1965), a blue-toned portrait of her daughter, sold for USD 1.3 million in an online auction by Sotheby’s.

ABA First Runner (AFR) is the maiden satellite of India’s Azista BST Aerospace. It will be launched by the Falcon 9 rocket.
Azista BST Aerospace (ABA) is a joint venture between Azista Industries Pvt. Ltd. and Berlin Space Technologies GmbH.  The ABA First Runner (AFR) is an 80-kilogram satellite and has an optical remote sensing payload with both panchromatic and multispectral imaging capabilities.

Notes:
The Reserve Bank of Indian (RBI) has expanded the scope of the trade receivables discounting system (TReDS) by allowing insurance companies to function as participants.
This is expected to boost the cash flows of MSMEs. TReDS is an electronic platform for facilitating the financing / discounting of trade receivables of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through multiple financiers.
