The Mars Express spacecraft, launched by the European Space Agency in 2003, has exceeded its planned lifespan, offering insights into Mars’ geological and atmospheric characteristics.
It also found evidence of water ice on and beneath the surface and was helping with other missions like NASA’s Phoenix and Mars Science Laboratory missions. The Visual Monitoring Camera (VMC) affixed to the Mars Express will live stream the happenings on Mars.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the first phase of ‘Shiv Srishti’, a theme park based on the life of Shivaji Maharaj in Pune, Maharashtra.
The Maharashtra government recently announced that it will provide Rs 50 crore for the construction of Shiva Srishti. It will be constructed at the base of Raigad fort.

The Uttar Pradesh government launched a 15-day registration campaign for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in all 75 districts across the state.
The campaign aims at covering around 14 lakh such MSMEs that are not yet registered with the MSME Udyam portal, and providing them all the benefits of the schemes of the state government. There are more than 90 lakh active MSMEs in the state, but only 14 lakh are registered.

The United States and Taiwan have signed a trade deal aimed at deepening economic relations between both sides in a move that has sparked a warning from China.
Washington and Taipei maintain a multibillion-dollar annual trade and unofficial ties through the de facto US embassy. The Chinese foreign ministry accused Washington of violating agreements on the status of Taiwan.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) have set up the Enhanced Surveillance Measure (ESM) to curb volatility in small-cap counters.
It is applicable for companies that have a market cap of less than ₹500 crore and the mechanism will be effective from June 5.

Nyaya Vikas Portal was launched recently for monitoring the implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes.
It provides information regarding the funding, documentation, project monitoring and approval of these schemes. The Department of Justice has been implementing the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) for Development of Infrastructure Facilities for Districts and Subordinate Judiciary since 1993-94.

India’s First International Cruise Vessel was flagged off recently from Chennai to Sri Lanka. This marks the start of the international cruise tourism terminal at Chennai.
The MV Empress cruise has a capacity to accommodate 3,000 passengers. It will connect three ports— Triconmalle, Hambantota and Jaffna—in Sri Lanka.

India-US global strategic partnership is an ambitious roadmap to promote defence industrial cooperation.
The two countries have decided to establish this partnership after the talks between US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin and his Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh. Lloyd Austin is on a three-day visit to India.

On World Environment Day, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) unveiled a publication called the “Sustainable Green Airports Mission”.
This booklet highlights the sustainability measures undertaken by the AAI and becoming carbon neutral, in line with the Panchamrit goals declared by the Prime Minister of India at COP26.

The Disha Mobile App, launched three years ago, has created a record with more than 1.17 crore registrations in the State.
The App was aimed at safety and security of women. Police, women protection secretaries and volunteers attached to village and ward sachivalayams, who launched Disha special drives, registered about 1.17 crore women.
