A recent study published in The Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology journal has uncovered that the occurrence of diabetes in India stands at 11.4%.
Additionally, the study found that 35.5% of the population experiences hypertension, while 15.3% are affected by prediabetes.

The inaugural meeting of the Joint Committee of the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement concluded recently.
During the meeting, both countries reviewed the bilateral trade under the CEPA. The 13th Ministerial Conference of the WTO (MC13) is scheduled to be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, during February 2024.

Notes:
A USD 130 million loan agreement was signed recently between the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Indian Government.
The agreement is for the implementation of the Himachal Pradesh Subtropical Horticulture, Irrigation, and Value Addition Project. Its aim is to promote horticulture in the state.

The Chite Lui River in Aizawl is at risk as it is being transformed into a site for dumping waste. The Chite Lui River flows through the city for approximately 20 km before joining River Tuirial, originating from the Bawngkawn range in north Aizawl.
The Chite Lui River has turned into a small stream due to encroachments on its banks. Plastic makes up most of the solid waste in Chite Lui River.

The New Generation Ballistic Missile ‘Agni Prime’ was successfully flight-tested by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.
During the flight test, all objectives were successfully demonstrated.

Notes:
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided to permit banks to issue RuPay Prepaid forex cards to customers and to issue such cards abroad. This move is aimed at broadening the scope of RuPay cards and to increase its international usage.
This is expected to expand the payment options for Indian travelling abroad.

Indian President Droupadi Murmu and her Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic have agreed to set a bilateral trade target of one billion euros by the end of this decade, from the present 320 million euros.
This agreement was made by both the countries, during Indian President’s three-day State visit to Serbia from the 7th to the 9th of June 2023.

Ravindra Jadeja breaks the record of India’s most successful left-arm spinner, Bishan Singh Bedi. On the third day of the India-Australia World Test Championship final, Jadeja took 267 wickets in 65 Test matches with an economy rate of 2.44 and an average of 24.25.
Bedi held this record for the longest time with 266 wickets in 67 matches.

The Union Ministry of home affairs has constituted a committee in violence-hit Manipur to facilitate the peace-making process among various conflicting ethnic groups.
The peace committee, led by the Manipur governor, will constitute the chief minister, some ministers in the state government, MP, MLAs, leaders from across political parties, and eminent members of civil society, including artists and academics.

Notes:
India defeated four-time champions South Korea 2-1 and clinch their maiden Women’s Junior Hockey Asia Cup in Japan’s Kakamigahara.
This marks India’s first-ever win in the tournament. Annu and Neelam scored the goals for India while Indian captain Preeti who was named Player-of-the-Match.
