Indian President Droupadi Murmu and her Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic have agreed to set a bilateral trade target of one billion euros by the end of this decade, from the present 320 million euros.
This agreement was made by both the countries, during Indian President’s three-day State visit to Serbia from the 7th to the 9th of June 2023.

Notes:
India captain Rohit Sharma has become the third Indian opener to cross 13,000 runs across formats, after Virender Sehwag (15,758) and Sachin Tendulkar (15,335) to achieve this feat.
He is the third-quickest to the mark among all openers, only behind Matthew Hayden (293 innings) and Sachin Tendulkar (295), as he crossed the mark in his 307th innings.

Nitin Agarwal, a 1989-batch IPS officer of Kerala cadre, was appointed the new Director-General of the Border Security Force (BSF).
Agarwal replaces Pankaj Kumar Singh, who retired on December 31. Central Reserve Police Force DG Sujoy Lal Thaosen led BSF in an additional capacity since Singh’s retirement.

Iraq’s parliament has approved a budget of 198.9 trillion dinars (USD 153bn) for 2023 for a record spending on a growing public wage bill and development projects.
It aims to improve services and rebuild infrastructure ruined by neglect and war. The approved budget is the largest in the country’s history, covering three years – 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das honoured with ‘Governor of the Year’ award at Central Banking Awards 2023.
Central Banking is an international economic research journal. The award recognised his role as the RBI chief in managing inflation and handling India’s banking system during crises like COVID pandemic and global turmoils.

The Infrastructure Finance Secretariat(IFS), under the Department of Economic Affairs, has launched the revamped website of PPPININDIA.
PPPININDIA is a website dedicated to promoting and facilitating Public Private Partnerships in India and helps in bridging the gap between the public and private sectors. It brings together government entities, private companies, investors and entrepreneurs for sustainable growth.

According to a recent study, the devastating health consequences stemming from the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy persist and affect generations who were not directly exposed to the toxic gas.
Even after nearly forty years since the tragedy, subsequent generations suffer from disabilities and cancer.

The Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to upload the yearly records of Group A and B officials, including appointments, transfers, and leaves, on the Manav Sampada Portal.
This step aims to improve the efficiency and usefulness of the portal while promoting transparency in governance and providing convenience to employees.

The Ministry of Defence granted approval for the procurement of the Predator (MQ-9 Reaper) drones from the United States.
The deal was approved recently during the Defence Acquisition Council meeting. The final decision on this matter will be made by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS).

The Congress government in Karnataka has announced the repeal of the State’s Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Act, 2022, which is popularly known as the anti-conversion law.
The State Cabinet also decided to reverse the changes made to Kannada and Social Studies school textbooks last year, including lessons on Hindutva ideologues.
