Union Road Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari announced from April 1, all government-owned vehicles that are older than 15 years will be scrapped.
As part of this, more than nine lakh vehicles, owned by central and state governments, transport corporations and public sector undertakings, and new vehicles with alternative fuels will replace them.

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India is a statutory body established under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
FSSAI recently notified financial regulations and according to the FSSAI (Finance) Regulations, 2023, it will maintain a Food Safety and Standards Authority of India Fund. This fund will include grants given to the food authority by the Central government among others. This will be annually audited by the Comptroller and Auditor General.

Pakistan cricketer Babar Azam wins the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Sir Garfield Sobers award for cricketer of the year.
The Pakistan skipper was picked for both the ‘ODI Cricketer of the Year’ and the ‘Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the ICC Men’s Cricketer of 2022’. He was the only player to breach the 2000-run mark in 2022 across all formats.

The Justice G. Rohini-led commission for the sub-categorisation of other backward classes (OBCs) has now been given another extension in its tenure by the President.
This was announced by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. This is the 14th extension in tenure that the commission has been given. The commission was formed in October 2017.

India’s G-20 Sherpa Mr Amitabh Kant inaugurated India’s first Model G-20 Summit organised by Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini’s Indian Institute of Democratic Leadership.
The two-day Model G-20 Summit starting has been organised near Mumbai to take the idea of G-20 to the youth. Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, the parent organisation of IIDL is also the Secretariat of the G-20 Civil Society engagement group – Civil-20.

Chinese internet search major Baidu is planning to launch an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot service similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
The firm plans to launch the service as a standalone application and merge it into its search engine. ChatGPT’s technology works by learning from vast amounts of data how to answer prompts by users in a human-like manner, offering information like a search engine. Microsoft has a USD 1 billion investment in San Francisco-based OpenAI.

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has started exports of aviation gasoline, which is used to operate unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and small planes.
For the first time in the nation’s history, India is exporting fuel. The first consignment of 80 barrels of aviation gas named ‘AV gas 100 LL’ was shipped from the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) to Papua New Guinea.

Ernakulam in Kerala has been named as the first district to achieve registration of 10,000 new MSMEs.
This will help boost the contribution of MSMEs by generating new jobs and diversifying India’s GDP. The availability of highly skilled Human Resources and the good industrial infrastructure are among the key reasons for its excellent communication and networking systems.

India claimed its maiden ICC title in women’s cricket as it lifted the inaugural U-19 women’s’ World Cup.
India registered a seven-wicket victory over its England counterpart. The Indian Under-19 women cricket team was led by Shafali Verma.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched the real-time source apportionment ‘supersite’. It is a joint venture of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee, IIT-Delhi, IIT-Kanpur and TERI.
The supersite will share details of sources of pollution on an hourly basis as well as forecast for the next three days. The mobile van will go to a particular place and the data collected will be analysed at the supersite.
