Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways is working towards development of Mega International Container Transhipment Port (ICTP) at Galathea Bay of Great Nicobar Island of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The 41,000 crore international transhipment port at Great Nicobar Island aims to match with the global top container transhipment terminals. Other projects include, Airport, Township and Power plant.

The Ministry of Education has recently released All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) 2020-2021.
The Ministry has been conducting AISHE since 2011, which collects detailed information on parameters such as student enrolment, teacher’s data, infrastructural information, financial information. The total enrolment in higher education has increased to nearly 4.14 crore in 2020-21 from 3.85 crore in 2019-20. The Female enrolment has increased to 2.01 crore and the Gross Enrolment Ratio increased to 27.3 from 25.6 in 2019-20.

The Ministry of Defence was the top procuring ministry of goods and services from MSME sellers in the calendar year 2022.
This was announced by the government’s public procurement e-commerce marketplace Government e-Marketplace (GeM). The ministry has purchased products and services worth Rs 16,747 crore in 2022 from the portal.

Chinese internet search major Baidu is planning to launch an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot service similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
The firm plans to launch the service as a standalone application and merge it into its search engine. ChatGPT’s technology works by learning from vast amounts of data how to answer prompts by users in a human-like manner, offering information like a search engine. Microsoft has a USD 1 billion investment in San Francisco-based OpenAI.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recently launched the Ladli Bahina Scheme, to provide Rs 1,000 per month to women from financially poor background in the state.
A sum of Rs 60,000 crore will be spent on this scheme in five years. The Ladli Bahina Scheme will benefit poor women from lower and middle classes of all sections on the lines of the Ladli Lakshmi Scheme.

Sports For All (SFA), India-based multi-sport tech driven competition organisers, joined Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) mission as a powered-by sponsor for the next five years.
Through this partnership, SFA will invest ₹12.5 crores over the next five years to contribute in developing India’s sporting culture.

Chief Economic Advisor, CEA Dr V. Anantha Nageswaran said that the Indian economy is expected to grow at 6.5 per cent in 2023-24.
The range of growth is projected between 6 and 6.8 per cent while India is expected to be 5 trillion dollar economy by 2025-26. IMF in its World Economic Outlook Update, maintained India’s GDP forecast for current Financial Year at 6.8 per cent.

Uttarakhand has been adjudged the best state/UT tableau in the Republic Day Parade 2023, by a panel of judges.
Gujarat’s tableau has won an online public poll conducted by MyGov. The tableau of Ministry of Tribal Affairs (Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) has been adjudged as the best tableau in ministries/departments category. Indian Air Force marching contingent has been adjudged as the best Marching Contingent among the three services.

Japan-based Toyota Motor Corp continues to be the world’s top-selling automaker, for a third straight year.
The company recently said it sold 10.5 million vehicles in 2022. Though the company was hit by chip-related supply constraints, strong demand in Asia and increase in production capacity helped it boost global production by 5% in 2022. Volkswagen Group is at the number 2 position, as it sold 8.3 million vehicles in 2022.

As per a recommendation made by the Department of Commerce, IIT Madras will be provided a grant of Rs 242 Crore over a period of five years to undertake research on Lab Grown Diamonds (LGD).
In the Union Budget 2023, Union Finance Minister said that Lab grown Diamonds (LGD) is a technology and innovation-driven emerging sector with high employment potential.
