The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties, also known as COP26, is scheduled to be held in Glasgow, Scotland, in November 2021.
The event is to be held under the presidency of the United Kingdom. British MP and President-designate of COP-26, Alok Sharma called on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

Notes:
The Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) has unveiled the draft blue economy policy in the public domain, inviting suggestions and inputs from various stakeholders.
The draft policy document highlights the strategy that can be adopted by the government to utilise the oceanic resources available in the country. It also has recognised seven thematic areas.

The resolution plan for the dent ridden Dewan Housing Finance Ltd (DHFL), submitted by Piramal Capital and Housing Finance has been recently approved by the Reserve Bank of India.
In 2019, RBI referred the case of DHFL to National Companies Law Tribunal (NCLT). The committee of creditors (CoC) had earlier in January approved the plan submitted by Piramal Capital.

Notes:
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has built and delivered the 100th K9 Vajra tracked self-propelled howitzer. This is the last howitzer of the contract awarded in 2017.
This system has been built with technology transfer from South Korean defence major Hanwha Defense. The howitzer was flagged off at the Indian Army’s armoured system complex at Hazira in Gujarat.

The RBI Act was amended, under which inflation target is set by the Central government, in consultation with the RBI, once every five years.
As the five-year term for the Monetary Policy Committee’s (MPC’s) inflation-targeting framework is to end this March, the inflation target band of 2-6 per cent is also to be reviewed.

Home Minister Amit Shah released a book narrating the history of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Titled as the ‘Rashtra Pratham – 82 Varshon Ki Swarnim Gatha’, it includes thorough-researched articles on the journey, challenges and successes of CRPF, since 1939, the year of its raising.

Notes:
Scientists from the USA have successfully cloned Black Footed Ferret, an endangered species. This species is North America’s only native ferret. The cloned animal has been named Elizabeth Ann.
The cloning has been successfully done using the cells of “Walla”, a black-footed ferret that lived more than 30 years ago.

India’s star Tennis player Ankita Raina won her maiden WTA title along with her Russian partner Kamilla Rakhimova.
The duo clinched the doubles event in the Phillip Island Trophy in Melbourne. With this win, the 28-year-old Ankita can reach top-100 in the WTA rankings in doubles. She will be the second Indian woman player to be in top-100 after Sania Mirza.

The state Government of Uttar Pradesh presented the first paperless budget of Rs 5.50 lakh crore in the state.
The budget for the Financial Year 2021-22 was presented by the state’s Finance Minister Suresh Khanna. All members of the UP Legislative Assembly were given tablets to read the budget and a mobile app called “Uttar Pradesh Sarkar ka Budget” was also launched.

After the Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy lost the confidence vote on the floor of the Legislative Assembly, the UT’s Congress-DMK government collapsed.
The Chief Minister tendered his resignation to the Lt Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, with only around four months remaining for completion of its tenure.
