Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, the legendary vocalist, is being rerembered on his birth anniversary today. The year-long birth centenary celebrations of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi begin today. Hailed as the Tansen of India, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, brought Hindustani classical music closer to the common man. He received the Bharat Ratna in 2008.

The Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Defence have recently approved 26 green zone sites across the country, to operate Drones. With this, the total green sites stand at 32.
Under the No-Permission-No-Takeoff (NPNT) compliance regulations, the drones are not authorised to fly without the NPNT automated green signal. The Government is also developing the Digital Sky platform, for automatic authorisations.

The Netherlands-based International Criminal Court (ICC) convicted former Ugandan warlord Dominic Ongwen of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Dominic Ongwen led a brigade of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) from 2002 to 2004. He was accused of 70 counts of crimes and was found guilty of 61 of them. LRA is a rebel group operating in Uganda for more than 20 years.

The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development created “Track Child portal”, to track the missing and found children.
The Ministry provided the statistics recorded on this portal for the last 5 year. In the year 2020, from January 2020 to January 2021, 43515 children were found missing and 38113 children were found. All concerned authorities are asked to update the portal regularly.

The Union Minister for Fisheries Giriraj Singh has announced an investment of Rs.400 crore to the state of Goa. This investment is intended to make the coastal state a hub for fisheries in the country.
It has been stated that out of the said Rs.400 crore, an investment of Rs.41.47 crore has already been sanctioned to the state from the Central Government.

The state Government of Uttar Pradesh has introduced a system of allotting 16-digit Unicode to mark all kinds of landholdings in the state.
This system would ensure that every piece of land in UP would bear the Unicode and hence would pave way to prevent disputes. Also, it is expected to prevent fraudulent land transactions.

The number of registered births in 2020 was 10.04 million, which is over 15 percent down from the number of registered births of the last year.
As per the data, this is the fourth consecutive year to register a decline in birth rate. China launched the one-child policy in the late 1970s to slow rapid population growth. It was reversed only in the year 2016.

India recently signed an agreement with Afghanistan for building Lalandar or Shatoot dam. The MoU was signed by Union External affairs minister S Jaishankar and his Afghan counterpart.
The dam is expected to provide water supply to almost two million people in Kabul city. The dam would also provide irrigation water to nearby areas. This is the second major dam being built by India in Afghanistan, after the Friendship Dam or Salma dam.

The Supreme Court (SC) recently approved the mechanism proposed by SBI Mutual Fund to distribute Rs 9,122 crore to the Franklin Templeton unitholders.
This distribution mechanism was framed in consultation with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and Franklin Templeton MF. In April 2020, the Franklin shut down six debt schemes over redemption pressure.

Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited (IDPL) is a state-owned pharmaceutical, bulk drug manufacturing and drug discovery company headquartered in Gurgaon.
Recently, it was announced that IDPL and Rajasthan Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd (RDPL) would be closed. The Government is to disinvest Hindustan Antibiotics Ltd (HAL), Bengal Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd (BCPL), and Karnataka Antibiotics & Pharmaceutical Ltd (KAPL).
