The 13th edition of Aero India, the Global Air show ‘Aero India’ is being organised at the Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bengaluru.
The exhibition is hosted by the Ministry of Defence’s Defence Exhibition Organisation. This show enables the manufacturers and service providers from the Indian aviation industry meet potential buyers.

Notes:
According to a recent research published in the journal Nature, Scientists have developed a new protein-based biosensor to detect the novel coronavirus.
These devices recognise the unique molecules on the surface of the virus and bind to them. Subsequently, they emit light through a biochemical reaction. This technique does not rely on genetic amplification as used in the RT-PCR method and saves time.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently inaugurated a new plant at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Bengaluru.
It aims to double the production of the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft, India’s indigenous fighter jet. The Defence Ministry also signed a Rs 48000 crore deal to procure 83 Tejas LCA from HAL. This is said to be the biggest indigenous defence procurement.

Amazon has moved the Delhi High Court against Future Retail for selling its retail assets to Reliance Retail.
Amazon alleges that the ₹24,713 crore worth Future-Reliance deal violates its own contract with the Future Group. The Delhi High Court asked Future retail to maintain status quo. Earlier the Singapore Arbitration gave the Emergency Arbitrator (EA) award in favour of Amazon.

Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu warned the Member of Parliaments against recording proceedings of the House on mobile phones.
He also stated that such unauthorised recordings and its circulation on social media is breaching the Parliamentary privilege and contempt of the House

The Additional Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Praveen Sinha has been appointed as the acting chief of CBI.
He is a 1988-batch Gujarat cadre IPS officer. After Rishi Kumar Shukla who retired recently, the acting Chief has been appointed till a decision on a New Director is taken. This is the third time in last five years that an interim chief will head CBI.

The Central Vista Avenue redevelopment project has been awarded to Ahmedabad-based Shapoorji Pallonji & Company Private Limited.
The redevelopment project has recently begun with a ceremony at the India Gate. The construction of the new Parliament building began last month. The project is estimated to cost Rs 608 crores and is expected to be completed by 2022.

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has expressed concern over the military coup in Myanmar.
The United Kingdom, which is the President of the UNSC for this month, also backed the discussion on the issue. The UNSC asked the Military rulers for the release of all the detainees including the State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and President.

Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley has thanked the Indian government for donation of COVID-19 vaccine doses. The country has a population of over 2.87 lakhs with 1641 coronavirus cases.

The Union Budget has proposed to impose tax on the interest income on Provident Fund (PF) accounts contributions exceeding Rs 2.5 lakh a year, from 2021-22.
The Central Board of Direct axes announced that the contributions to Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) above Rs 2.5 lakh a year will be kept in a separate basket and taxed simar to that of fixed deposits.
