Notes:
American aircraft manufacturer Boeing announced that its F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet has successfully performed the ski-jump.
The F/A-18 Block III Super Hornet jets demonstrated compatibility with Indian aircraft carriers. Indian Navy at present has one carrier named INS Vikramaditya and one upcoming carrier INS Vikrant.

The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the suspension of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) is extended till March 31, 2021.
As a part of relief measures to industries, the government had earlier suspended fresh proceedings under IBC for loan defaults on or after March 25, for six months. The suspension was further extended by three months till December 25.

The Union Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) along with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) India has launched a unique initiative named a “firefly bird diverter”, to save Great Indian Bustard.
The diverter is a flap installed on overhead power lines in areas where GIB populations are found in the forests. They look like fire flies and act as reflectors for bird species like the GIB, which can spot them from distance and change their path of flight without colliding on power lines.

The Finance Ministry has linked a part of additional borrowing permission granted to the States to completion of reforms.
One of the four reforms is the Urban Local body/ utility reforms. Recently, the Ministry announced that Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh completed the set of reforms in functioning of ULBs, with Andhra Pradesh getting permission to mobilise highest financial resources of Rs.2,525 crore.

The CEO of NITI Aayog Amitabh Kant has virtually launched India’s first digital asset management platform DigiBoxx.
It is a digital file storage, sharing and management Software as a service (SaaS) product. He also became the first user of the platform, which provides a secure way to store all files in one centralised location.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is to establish a Regional Academic Centre for Space (RAC-S) at Indian Institute of Technology (BHU).
The Academic Centre would be set up to facilitate short- and long-term projects at the institute, to promote the culture of research and development among students. Capacity building programmes like conferences, exhibitions will also be organised.

The birth anniversary of former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is observed as Good Governance Day.
Good Governance Day was established in the year. This year, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari unveiled a life-size bronze statue of the former Prime Minister in Assam.

Israel passed its controversial Nation State Law before two years. Recently, the Arab-Israeli citizens and rights groups moved the country’s Supreme Court to scrap these laws.
As per the petition, the articles in the law, especially those related to Israel’s official language and land allocation laws, are unconstitutional and are discriminatory towards non-Jewish citizens of the country.

Notes:
The 23-year-old Indian tennis player Sumit Nagal has been given a singles wildcard entry for the Australian Open 2021.
Sumit and Wang Xiyu of China will compete in the main draw of the event. Former world number one Andy Murray has received a wild-card entry into the event, which is going to take place at Melbourne park in February 2020.

The Assam government recently tabled a Bill in the Legislative Assembly to abolish all state-run Madrassas by converting them into general schools from April 1, 2021.
Amid constant objections on tabling the Assam Repealing Bill, 2020, it was placed on the first day of the winter session. There are 610 state-run Madrassas across Assam and the state government is spending Rs 260 crore annually.
