Mohit Kumar became the first Indian wrestler to become a junior world champion since 2019 after edging Russia’s Eldar Akhmadudinov in the 61kg final, in the World under-20 championships.
Priya (women’s 76kg) earned another gold medal for the country and became the country’s only second woman grappler to grab the title.

36% Indians between the ages of 15 and 34 believe unemployment is the biggest problem before the country, as per the report released by Lokniti-CSDS.
About one in six (16%) think it is poverty, and 13% think it is inflation. About 6% of respondents identified corruption as the most significant challenge; 4% each identified problems in education and high population.

The country’s first indigenous e-Tractor Prima ET11 has been developed by the CSIR’s Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI), Durgapur.
The machine was launched by the Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh. Dr. Jitendra Singh unveiled a book by the CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) and a compendium showcasing 75 technologies developed by CSIR.

A 14-member committee chaired by former NITI Aayog CEO and India’s G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant, was constituted to examine stalled real estate projects and recommend ways to complete them.
The committee was set up in March by the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry. It included officials of Union Finance Ministry, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana state governments, IBBI, NHB and RERA of Haryana and UP. The report has been handed over to Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Puri.

The first Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between India and Samoa was held in Apia (capital city of Samoa) recently.
Both sides discussed their wide range of bilateral relations including their development partnership covering areas such as health, ICT, education, SME and capacity building. Samoa will host the next CHOGM (Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting) on 21 October 2024.

The 14th Joint Group of Customs (JGC) meeting between India and Bangladesh was held in New Delhi on 21st and 22nd August. During the meeting, India and Bangladesh reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering customs cooperation and streamlining cross-border trade
A set of bilateral issues like opening of new land customs stations, easing port restrictions, development of road and rail infrastructure and pre-arrival exchange of customs data were deliberated during the event.

Tata AutoComp has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Skoda Group, a leading European manufacturer of components and vehicles for public transport.
The agreement sets the framework for a strategic joint venture aimed at producing components for the growing Indian railway and public mobility market.

The revenue expenditure, or spending on social welfare schemes, by the top 11 Indian states, is expected to touch a decadal high of Rs. 4 lakh crores, according to a report by CRISIL.
The top 11 states analysed for this study were Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala.

Infosys announced entering into a three-year partnership with tennis legend Rafael Nadal.
The 22-time Grand Slam champion will serve as the Brand Ambassador for the brand and Infosys Digital Innovation. Infosys will collaborate with Nadal on the development of cutting-edge digital innovation projects.

Indore has been adjudged the best Smart City while Madhya Pradesh has been chosen as the top State for exemplary performance in the Smart Cities Mission.
Surat and Agra are the second and third-place winners among cities, while Tamil Nadu is the second in the State category. It is followed by Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh in the India Smart Cities Award Contest (ISAC), 2022.
