The 4th G20 Culture Working Group (CWG) Meeting was held in Varanasi from 23^rd to 26^th August 2023. Delegates from G20 member nations, invitee countries, and various international organizations participated in the event.
The previous three CWG meetings were held in Khajuraho, Bhubaneswar, and Hampi. The 4th CWG meeting in Varanasi aims to arrive at actionable outcomes while positioning culture at the heart of policy-making.

The Astra indigenous air-to-air missile was successfully test-fired from the light combat aircraft (LCA), Tejas, off the coast of Goa.
The missile release was successfully carried out from the aircraft at an altitude of about 20,000 feet. The state-of-the-art BVR air-to-air missile to engage and destroy highly maneuvering supersonic aerial targets, is designed and developed by Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Research Centre Imarat (RCI) and other laboratories of DRDO.

National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) is a database of orders, judgments and case details of 18,735 District & Subordinate Courts and High Courts created as an online platform under the eCourts Project.
It provides data relating to judicial proceedings/decisions of all computerized district and subordinate courts of the country.

Indore has secured first position in Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan-2023, conducted by the Central Pollution Control Board.
According to a release, in the category of cities with a population of over 10 lakhs in the Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan-2023, Indore has secured the first position, Agra second, Thane third, Srinagar fourth and Bhopal ranked fifth.

‘International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition’ is commemorated on 23 August each year.
It was first celebrated in a number of countries, in particular in Haiti (1998) and Gorée Island in Senegal (1999). This International Day is intended to inscribe the tragedy of the slave trade in the memory of all peoples.

The Uttar Pradesh Government launched the ‘Manav Sampada Portal’ aiming to instil transparency in administrative procedures.
This initiative, according to an official statement, intends to bring the “activities of officers and employees from various departments into the public domain through the portal”. Pertinent details concerning their appointments, leave management, transfers, and retirements will be accessible on the platform.

India and Greece upgraded their relations to a strategic partnership and pledged to double two-way trade by 2030 during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit.
This is the first by an Indian premier to the European country in four decades. The two sides further decided to speedily finalise a mobility and migration partnership agreement to facilitate skilled migration.

More than 50.09 crore accounts have been opened under the PM Jan Dhan Yojana in the last nine years and the deposit balance swelled to over Rs 2.03 lakh crore, the Finance Ministry said.
Around 56% Jan-Dhan account holders are women and around 67% Jan Dhan accounts are in rural and semi-urban areas. 33.98 crore RuPay cards were issued to PMJDY accountholders.
