The government’s think-tank NITI Aayog has established a standard definition and approach for water neutrality in industries to promote water conservation and efficient use.
Water neutrality will be defined as the total freshwater consumption, including direct and indirect water use in critical supply chains, which should be equal to or less than the quantifiable water savings achieved through strategies aimed at improving water use efficiency and conservation efforts.

River Rejuvenation Project Devika is nearing completion. It is built at a cost of over Rs 190 crore on the lines of ‘Namami Ganga’.
Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED) of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir is undertaking the project. Out of the 190 crore funds allocated for the project, the sharing of allocation is in the ratio of 90:10 by the Centre and UT respectively.

Renowned Telangana folk singer and balladeer Gaddar, known for his revolutionary songs during the 1980s and later during the Telangana statehood agitation, passed away at the age of 77.
A former naxalite, Gaddar had led an underground life, including in the forests. He was a fiery singer and a poet.

American researchers have achieved net energy gain in a nuclear fusion reaction for the second time, following a significant accomplishment in December 2022.
This achievement is considered a significant advancement in the journey towards harnessing a nearly boundless, secure, and environmentally friendly energy resource.

Porpoises are a group of fully aquatic marine mammals. Although similar in appearance to dolphins, they are more closely related to narwhals and belugas.
Vaquita porpoises are endemic to the northern end of the Gulf of California. The International Whaling Commission (IWC) released its inaugural ‘extinction alert,’ focusing on the vaquita porpoise, a species with a mere 10 remaining individuals located in the Gulf of California or Sea of Cortez in Mexico.

The National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) will be renamed as the Indian Institute of Management, Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) after the IIM (Amendment) Bill 2023 was passed by both Houses of the Parliament.
This makes NITIE the 21st IIM in India and the second in Maharashtra, following IIM Nagpur.
