The ‘Kamar’ tribe in Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district, a particularly vulnerable tribal group (PVTG), has been granted habitat rights to protect their culture and livelihood.
This makes Kamar the first PVTG in the state to receive such status. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel handed over the habitat rights certificates to heads of 22 settlements on the occasion of the World Tribal Day- 9 August.

Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud announced the launch of ‘SuSwagatam’, an online system for generating entry passes to the Supreme Court.
The new initiative eliminates the need for physical passes and long queues, ensuring easier access to the court premises.

Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners (Appointment Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Bill was introduced in Rajya Sabha.
It proposes the setting up of a 3-member committee led by the Prime Minister for appointing future chief election commissioners and election commissioners.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued guidelines for registered modern medicine doctors, stating that they can reject treatment for aggressive patients, must prescribe generic drugs, and should use social media solely for educational purposes, not patient solicitation.
The comprehensive guidelines, spanning over 60 pages, cover aspects like prescription mentions, permissible advertisements, record-keeping, teleconsultation practices, and caution against receiving commissions or pharmaceutical-sponsored conference participation.

The Indian Army has dedicated a 115 Feet Long Bridge to Danna, the Last Village at the Line of Control (LoC) in Machhal Sector, Kupwara District, of Jammu and Kashmir.
The 115 feet long Bridge has been named as Bhagat Bridge in memory of Late Major Bhagat Singh, Veer Chakra, who laid down his life defending this sector in the 1965 war. Danna Village is also popularly known as Bhagat Village.

In-vitro Fertilisation (IVF) treatment will now be available to Goan couples free of cost at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) from September 1.
The Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and intrauterine insemination (IUI)/IVF Centre was launched at the super-speciality block of the GMCH.

The former DRDO Director General Dr.V S Arunachalam, passed away recently in the USA, at the age of 87 years. He was the head of DRDO and was the Scientific Advisor to the Defence Minister from 1982-92.
In 2015, Dr.Arunachalam was conferred with DRDO’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution to the field of scientific research and technology.

Uttar Pradesh topped the list of states that attracted investment funds from banks and financial institutions.
As per the data from a RBI study, the state accounted for the highest share (16.2 per cent) in the total cost of projects sanctioned by banks/financial institutions, followed by Gujarat, Odisha, Maharashtra and Karnataka during 2022-23.

Union Minister of State (IC) Science and Technology Jitendra Singh unveiled the new variety Lotus flower which has 108 petals.
The lotus named ‘NBRI Namoh 108’ is developed by the CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), based in Lucknow.

Mission Amrit Sarovar has been launched by the Prime Minister in 2022 with an objective to provide sustainable water sources wherein every district is expected to construct and rejuvenate a minimum of 75 Amrit Sarovar.
Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Application and Geo-informatics (BISAG-N) has been engaged as technical partner for the Mission. So far, out of 1,12,277 number of identified Amrit Sarovars, the work has been started for 81,425 number of Amrit Sarovars.
