Notes:
The capital of Telangana and a major hub of technology industries, Hyderabad was recently adjudged as the ‘World’s most dynamic city’, as per the JLL City Momentum Index, 2020.
The US-based by global real estate services firm Jones Lang Lasalle (JLL), recently released the index by assessing 129 cities around the world. In this seventh edition of the ranking, Hyderabad was placed at the top spot followed by another Indian tech-hub Bengaluru. Southern city Chennai is placed at the fifth place while Delhi is at the sixth place. India leads the 2020 Index with its seven cities being placed in the top 20 ranks.

Recently, India has successfully test-fired fired a 3,500 km range nuclear capable missile from the coast of Andhra Pradesh. The ballistic missile named ‘K-4’ that can be launched from a submarine, is developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
The missile, which is to be fitted into the Arihant-class submarines of the Indian Navy, has ideal configuration to strike its targets. Arihant is India’s first nuclear-powered submarine of 6000 tonnes, which was successfully tested in November 2018.

Leading Indian tele-com service provider, Bharti Airtel and Google Cloud announced a partnership recently. Through the partnership, Airtel will be able to offer ‘G-suite’ to small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in India.
G-Suite is a set of applications which include Gmail, Docs, Drive, Calendar and other productivity tools developed by Google. This agreement would help both the companies to tap growth opportunities in Indian market. As of now, Airtel provides tele-com service to nearly 5 lakh small and medium businesses and several thousand large businesses.

Ratchanok Intanon, the Badminton player of Thailand, defeated Spain’s Carolina Marin in the women’s singles final match of the Indonesia Masters tournament in Jakarta, held recently. This is her second win in the Indonesian Masters event after her triumph in 2010.
Ratchanok Intanon became world champion in women’s singles in 2013 and became the first Thai player to become No.1 in women’s singles. Carolina Marin is the present Olympic Champion and three-time World Champion.

The 80-year-old Former Indian cricketer and National Selector, Man Mohan Sood recently passed away.
Sood was born on 06-07-1939 in Lahore, Punjab (now in Pakistan), India. He had played one Test match representing India and 39 first-class matches with a century. Man Mohan Sood also had served as an administrator at the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) and a member of the National Selecting Committee

The leading international consultancy firm PwC recently released the results of its annual survey of Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) across the world. The firm surveyed more than 1,580 CEOs in 83 countries about global economy prospects. As per the survey, the United States has the highest growth prospects, according to the CEOs.
China remained in the second place while India retained the position of the fourth rank. The report also stated that 53 per cent of global CEOs believe international economic growth would decline in the next 12 months.

In the recently released 2020 Global Talent Competitiveness Index, India has scaled up to the 72nd rank. The list was topped by Switzerland, which emerged as the most talent-competitive nation of the world. The second rank was held by the US followed by Singapore.
The Global Talent Competitiveness Index (GTCI) report has been launched since 2013, which measures the capability of the countries to compete for and retain talent. The report covers 125 economies and 114 cities and is based on the research conducted by INSEAD in association with the Adecco Group and Tata Communications. This year, the report was based on the theme of “Entrepreneurial Talent and Global Competitiveness”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently chaired the 32nd PRAGATI interaction to discuss the progress of several projects. The interaction was made through PRAGATI – the multi-modal platform for ‘Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation’, which involves the participation of Central and state governments.
Prime Minister had launched the Information and communication technology based multi-modal governance platform PRAGATI on March 2015. PRAGATI is an interactive platform chaired by the Prime Minister to review and monitor important projects of the Centre and various State governments.

More than thirty thousand doses of Measles and Rubella vaccines to the Maldives to control the outbreak of Measles in the island country.
Though Maldives has eliminated the spread of Measles, the government in Male suspected an outbreak of the disease after it detected the case. The country made an emergency request to India, for the vaccines, which was handed over within three days of the request. Maldives had earlier approached Denmark and UNICEF for the vaccines. It is also said that four people of Maldives tested positive for the disease in the past one week.

The ‘National Girl Child Day’ is celebrated every year in India, on January 24. It was started by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development from 2008 and the day is celebrated on January 24 every year, to create awareness among people about inequalities and exploitation faced by the girls in the society.
Several awareness programmes and campaigns are being organised across the country to spread awareness about the rights of the girl child. Programmes which promote the importance of education, health and nutrition for girls are also held.
