In Telangana, the Indian Railway Institute of Financial Management (IRIFM) has been set up  in Hyderabad to impart professional training in management of railway finances. The institution marks an important addition to the list of premier professional institutions in the country in the field of financial management. The IRIFM institution is based on a 14-acre campus at Moula-Ali, Secunderabad.

Notes:
The Indore-based Devi Ahilya University has become the first university of Madhya Pradesh to be accorded A grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Now, the Centre of higher learning became entitled to several other facilities. It may introduce courses recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) without the latter’s permission besides commencing open distance-learning courses. The institute was established in 1964 by an Act of Legislature of Madhya Pradesh.

In a bid to conserve the endangered vulture population, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to set up state’s first vulture conservation and breeding centre in farenda area of Maharajganj district. The new centre would be set up in association with Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), a wildlife research organization. It will be the first scientific assessment of vultures in the state to find out which species is most threatened and the locations where these natural scavengers are thriving. It will be set up on the lines of Jatayu Conservation Breeding Centre at Pinjore in Haryana, which is also the first in the country.

Balasingh (67), the noted Tamil actor and theatre artist, has passed away in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His notable performances include Kamal Haasan’s directorial venture ‘Virumandi’ and actor Dhanush’s ‘Puthupetta’, a gangster flick.

The Madhya Pradesh government has decided to launch the project  titled ‘Shakti’  to alert the public through Short Message Service (SMS) system about crimes like abduction. The system will help prevent such crimes and solve them too.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has revised the framework on currency swap arrangement for the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries for 2019-2022. Under the framework for 2019-22, the RBI will continue to offer a swap arrangement within the overall corpus of $2 billion. The drawals can be made in US dollar, euro or Indian rupee. The framework is valid from November 14, 2019 to November 13, 2022. The facility will be available to all SAARC member countries, subject to their signing the bilateral swap agreements. The SAARC countries are — Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Through PSLV-47 vehicle, ISRO has successfully launched the India’s latest earth observation remote sensing satellite Cartosat-3 into Sun Synchronous orbit from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota. Cartosat-3 satellite is a third generation agile advanced satellite having high resolution imaging capability. Beside this, 13 Commercial Nanosatellites from USA were also successfully injected into designated orbit. These satellites were launched under commercial arrangement with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), the commercial arm of ISRO.

The 4-day long MoEF&CC  (Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change) and Centre for Media Studies (CMS) VATAVARAN-2019 Short Film Competition and Festival on Environment was held in New Delhi. The festival is being organized, exclusively on Environment and Wildlife along with the 10th Competitive edition of CMS VATAVARAN. This edition of the festival is focusing on theme “Celebrating Himalayas” in an attempt to highlight the importance of the spectacular mountain ecosystem in the current climate change discourse and action.

The Himachal Pradesh Government has decided to set up modern outdoor gyms at public places to connect the masses with the Fit India Movement. As part of the state government’s initiative, recreational equipment for children and modern outdoor gyms would be set up at identified parks and public places of Dharamshala. The Fit India movement is a nationwide initiative to encourage people to remain healthy by including physical activities and sports in their daily lives. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on National Sports Day (NSD-2019)  in New Delhi.

The Union Government has proposed to set up new rocket launch pad near Kulasekarapattinam in Tamil Nadu.The development comes on the backdrop of increasing launches from India, both for domestic and international customers.  Currently, the ISRO has two  operational launch pads at Sriharikotta  from where all GSLV and PSLV flights take place.
