Notes:
In Madhya Pradesh, the state government has decided to provide 5% reservation for national and international medallists in government jobs. It was announced by Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Jitu Patwari  during the inauguration of Under 16 state-level Olympic Games at Kampoo sports complex in Gwalior on 24th November 2019. He also announced that children from all CBSE, government and private schools would be involved in the Olympics. At present, the competition is being organized for children above 16 years of age. He said it includes 10 sports — hockey, basketball, football, volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho, athletics, wrestling, badminton and table tennis.

The Floating school named ‘The Arcadia Education Project’ has won the prestigious  Aga Khan Architecture Award 2019 in Kajan, republic of Tatarastan. The school is located in South Kanarchor of Bangladesh. It is an innovative project for constructing a floating school for marginalized children in the country. The architect of the project Saif Ul Haque designed a school which remains on the ground during dry season and floats when the area is submerged in water during monsoon. He utilized only the local material-bamboo, used tyres and steel drums for constructing the amphibious structure for school. The workforce and artisans for the project were also drawn locally. The school also serves as a shelter, a day care centre and a vocational training centre for the local people.

The Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri launched Credit-linked Subsidy Services Awas Portal (CLAP)  in New Delhi on 27th of November 2019. The portal provides a transparent and robust real-time web-based monitoring system for credit-linked Subsidy Services, CLSS, beneficiaries. Using the portal, a beneficiary can track his application status in real-time.

The Child Relief and You (CRY) has recently its report titled “How vulnerable are children in India to crime?”, which is based on the latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) for 2016-2017 data released on 21st October 2019 after a gap of two years. The report reveals that crimes against children rose by 20% higher than overall number of crimes which rose by 3.6%. As per CRY report, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have topped the list of States for overall crimes against children. Both stood at 14.8% with over 19,000 cases. The highest increase in crimes against children was seen in Jharkhand at 73.9% while Manipur had a significant decline of 18.7% between 2016 and 2017.

Madhu Shetye (89), the senior journalist and activist, has passed away in Mumbai on 27th November 2019. He was a founding member of the Mumbai Press Club (MPC). He was a former corporator in the Mumbai municipal corporation and had participated in the Samyukta Maharashtra and Goa liberation movements.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has revised the framework on currency swap arrangement for the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries for 2019-2022. Under the framework for 2019-22, the RBI will continue to offer a swap arrangement within the overall corpus of $2 billion. The drawals can be made in US dollar, euro or Indian rupee. The framework is valid from November 14, 2019 to November 13, 2022. The facility will be available to all SAARC member countries, subject to their signing the bilateral swap agreements. The SAARC countries are — Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Through PSLV-47 vehicle, ISRO has successfully launched the India’s latest earth observation remote sensing satellite Cartosat-3 into Sun Synchronous orbit from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota. Cartosat-3 satellite is a third generation agile advanced satellite having high resolution imaging capability. Beside this, 13 Commercial Nanosatellites from USA were also successfully injected into designated orbit. These satellites were launched under commercial arrangement with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), the commercial arm of ISRO.

The NDTV has won the 2019 IPI India Award for Excellence in Journalism 2019 for its  coverage of the  conspiracy to scuttle probe into the heinous Kathua rape and murder case probe and a strong expose of the political hypocrisy across the political spectrum. The story was anchored by senior journalist Nidhi Razdan. The Indian chapter of the International Press Institute (IPI) is an active forum of Editors, Publishers and Senior Executives of newspapers, magazines and news agencies, all of whom are members of the International Press Institute.

Australian writer and broadcaster, Clive James (80) has passed away in Cambridge, United Kingdom on 24th of November 2019. He was known around the world for his dry wit. Born in 1939, he moved to England in 1961 and rose to prominence as a literary critic and TV columnist. He went on to deliver wry commentary on international programming in such shows as Clive James On Television.

The Himachal Pradesh Government has decided to set up modern outdoor gyms at public places to connect the masses with the Fit India Movement. As part of the state government’s initiative, recreational equipment for children and modern outdoor gyms would be set up at identified parks and public places of Dharamshala. The Fit India movement is a nationwide initiative to encourage people to remain healthy by including physical activities and sports in their daily lives. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on National Sports Day (NSD-2019)  in New Delhi.
