The Patna Kalam or ‘Indo British Style’ developed under the patronage of the British, coinciding with the miniature painting style of India and the British style. The style combined the elements of both Mughal and British styles of paintings so well, so that it is called the Feringhee kalam (the Whiteman’s art).
The Patna Kalam style was independently the first such art style in the world to place common people and their lives on canvas. This style, based on watercolor, began in the Mughal court and the British court around 1760.
Patna Kalam paintings fall under the category of miniature paintings, mostly made on paper and sometimes ivory.

It is celebrated in winter when the birds begin their migration from the Himalayas down towards the plains. According to legends, Sama the daughter of Krishna was wrongly cursed to become a bird. Her brother Chakeva observed self penance and brought her back to human form. Thus this represents the sister-brother bond like the Rakhi festival. Clay idols of birds are made representing the sister-brother duo and are decorated traditionally. With various rituals they are then submerged in the pond with a wish that they return to the land next year.

First theatre university in Bihar is being built at Raja Ghat in Patna. The senior director of Bihar and nationally acclaimed filmmaker as well as persons passing out from the National School of Drama will teach at the theatre university.

The first International Convention Center of Bihar, Mahabodhi Convention Centre, was built in Gaya. It was built with an estimated Rs 145 crore. It has a seating capacity of 2,000 persons and comprises of facilities like auditorium, dining hall, meeting hall, guesthouse and other state-of-the-art facilities.

Jehanabad district in Bihar has become the first district to have 100% digital banking. Out of 1013438 active account holders, 1009895 are using at least one of digital banking products like Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, Debit Card, UPI and other similar facilities. This account for 99.65 percent of the total active account.
