States PCS: Bihar GK for BPSC and other Bihar PCS Exams

Notes:

• Har Ghar Bijli lagatar scheme was launched with an objective to provide free electricity connections to each and every home in the state.
• Households that are not yet connected to electricity will be included in the plan.
• Under the Har Ghar Bijli Yojana the state government aims to provide electricity connections to 50 Lakh households.
• Approximately 50% of APL households (above poverty line) in rural areas of Bihar without electricity connection will be covered under the free electricity connection scheme.
• The BPL families in the state are already being covered under the Central Government’s Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana.

• Nabinagara Plant (Stage 1) is a coal-based thermal power plant located at Sivanpur village in Nabinagar taluk in Aurangabad district of Bihar.
• Initially it was started as a joint venture between NTPC and Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited, but later its entire ownership was transferred to NTPC.
• Bihar would get 78% of the electricity generated from the plant, while UP would get 11%, Jharkhand 3% and Sikkim 1%.

• Dhelabagh Hydroelectric Project is located in the Rohtas district of Bihar.
• It was commissioned during the year 2006-07

Tikuli art is a unique art form of Bihar, which contains a rich and deep traditional history. The word Tikuli is called Bindi in the local language which is usually in the form of a very shiny dot. The art form was originated 800 years ago in Patna. It involves the melting of glass and adding traced pattern in natural colors and gold foil.

It was founded by Pala King Dharmapala in the late 8th or early 9th century. It is located at Antichak village, Bhagalpur, Bihar.

Anaemia Free India Index is released by National Health Mission. In 2020-2021 index, Madhya Pradesh secured the first position with a score of 64.1. M.P is followed by Odisha (59.3), and Himachal (57.1). Himachal Pradesh secured third position, as opposed to rank 18 in 2018-19.

Bihar Road Research Institute is being set up in Mokama on the line of central Road Research Institute, in order to utilise latest technologies while constructing quality roads in the state. Building is being constructed with financial help of Asian Development Bank.

IIT Patna and NIT Patna were ranked at 51st and 72nd position respectively in NIRF Ranking 2021 in overall category. In 2020 edition, IIT Patna was ranked at 54th position. In engineering category in 2021 edition, IIT Patna secured 21st position, as opposed to 26th in 2020.

IndiaSkills 2021 – Regional Competition (East) was held from October 20 to 23, 2021 in Patna. More than 240 participants from 8 states took part in four-day competition. Participants competed in 42 skills. Winners then entered IndiaSkills Nationals that was organised in Dec 2021. National level champions will now take part in WorldSkills International Competition, which is scheduled to be held in October 2022, in Shanghai. In IndiaSkiils Nationals 2021, Odisha finished first out of 26 states and union territories, with 51 medals. Odisha is followed by Maharashtra (30 medals) and Kerala (25 medals). Bihar ranked 6th.
