Srinivasan’s term as NSG Director General will last until his retirement on August 31, 2027. A 1992 batch IPS officer from the Bihar Cadre, Srinivasan currently directs the Bihar Police Academy. The NSG, established in 1986, is an elite counter-terrorism force under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

Japanese anime director Hayao Miyazaki recently won the Ramon Magsaysay Award, known as Asia’s Nobel Prize. This award is Asia’s top honor, recognizing transformative leadership and spirit. Winners receive a certificate and a medallion with Ramon Magsaysay’s profile. From 1958 to 2008, the award was given in six categories: Government Service, Public Service, Community Leadership, Journalism and Creative Arts, Peace and International Understanding, and Emergent Leadership. The award ceremony is held annually on August 31 in Manila, Philippines, marking the birth anniversary of President Ramon Magsaysay, after whom the award is named.

Alexander Dunn won the 2024 SASTRA Ramanujan Prize. The prize was instituted in 2005 by SASTRA University in Tamil Nadu.

Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin became the first woman to serve as Director General, Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS). The DGAFMS oversees medical policy matters for the Armed Forces and reports to the Ministry of Defence.
