The QS World University Rankings 2027 were released in June 2026 and assessed more than 1,500 institutions across 106 countries and territories. Massachusetts Institute of Technology ranked first for the 15th consecutive year, while Imperial College London and Stanford University shared second place.

Top Global Universities in 2027
University of Oxford ranked fourth and Harvard University ranked fifth in the 2027 edition. University College London rose to joint eighth place and remained in the global top 10 for the 15th consecutive year.
Regional Distribution and India’s Position
Institutions from East Asia and the Middle East recorded gains in the 2027 rankings, and China had the highest number of institutions moving up. India recorded its strongest-ever presence with 52 institutions, and Indian Institute of Technology Delhi ranked 118th globally.
