Punjab Udyog Kranti

The Punjab government has initiated the Punjab Udyog Kranti programme, claiming to be the first in India to launch such a comprehensive industrial revolution. This initiative aims to simplify and expedite the processes involved in establishing industries in the state. A series of 12 initiatives were introduced, designed to transform industrial operations and interactions with the government.

Key Features of Punjab Udyog Kranti

The initiative includes a deemed approval system that guarantees all approvals within 45 working days. Previously, clearances could take 60 to 120 days, causing delays. Now, applications will be reviewed online within seven days. Any deficiencies will be communicated promptly, allowing for swift resolution.

Fast-track Punjab Portal

The Fast-track Punjab portal serves as a single window for all investor approvals. If no decision is made within the stipulated time, the portal automatically generates an approval, maintaining legal validity. This system aims to enhance accountability and efficiency in investor facilitation.

Self-certification System

To streamline building plan approvals, Punjab is introducing a self-certification system. This change addresses the previous time-consuming and costly processes that required multiple expert approvals. The new system simplifies compliance for investors.

Unique Colour-coded Stamp Papers

Punjab has also launched colour-coded stamp papers to facilitate entrepreneurs. This innovative approach allows industrialists to obtain necessary clearances by purchasing this single stamp paper, drastically reducing the time required to set up new units.

Emphasis on Ease of Doing Business

The government is committed to encouraging a culture of ease in doing business. Mann emphasised that these reforms are just the beginning of a movement to enhance industrial governance. The state aims to ensure that industrialists can operate without harassment, promoting growth and employment.

Collaboration with Other States

Other states have expressed interest in replicating Punjab’s initiatives. The government is actively working to promote and safeguard existing industrial units while encouraging new investments.
