Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana or PMJDY is a financial inclusion initiative of the Central Government aimed at providing affordable access to financial services like bank accounts, credit, insurance etc. Accounts opened under this scheme are Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) accounts. So far, a total of 41.75 crore accounts have been opened. Of these, 35.96 crore are operational. Majority of these accounts were opened in the public sector banks.
