PM Modi Unveils World’s Tallest Lord Rama Statue in South Goa

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a 77-foot bronze statue of Lord Rama at the Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math in South Goa. The unveiling took place during the ‘Sardha Panchashatamanotsava’, marking 550 years of the historic Vaishnava Math.

A Landmark Cultural Installation

The newly unveiled statue, crafted by renowned sculptor Ram Sutar, has been described by organisers as the world’s tallest statue of Lord Rama. The installation reflects a blend of artistic precision and spiritual symbolism, adding a significant cultural landmark to Goa’s heritage landscape.

Significance of the Ceremony

Prime Minister Modi offered prayers at the Math during the ceremony and participated in associated rituals. The event was attended by Goa governor Ashok Gajapathi Raju, chief minister Pramod Sawant, Union minister Shripad Naik and the full state cabinet, highlighting its national significance. The Prime Minister also released a commemorative coin and a special postal stamp to mark the 550th anniversary.

About the Gokarn Partagali Math

The Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math is recognised as the first Gowd Saraswat Brahmin Vaishnava Math, following the Dvaita tradition established by Jagadguru Madhvacharya. Located on the banks of the Kushavati River in Partagali, the Math has long served as a centre of spiritual learning and community guidance. Recent refurbishments have modernised its facilities while preserving its centuries-old legacy.
