PM Ekta Malls

The Union government has approved the establishment of PM Ekta Malls in 27 states under the ‘One District, One Product’ (ODOP) initiative. This move aims to promote indigenous products, Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged items and local handicrafts through dedicated retail spaces. Nearly ₹4,796 crore was sanctioned for these projects in the fiscal year 2023-24. The scheme is part of the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) framework and was announced in the Union Budget 2023-24.
Objective of PM Ekta Malls
PM Ekta Malls provide permanent retail platforms for artisans and producers. They showcase ODOP products and GI-tagged goods. The initiative enhances visibility for traditional and regional items in prime urban locations. It supports local entrepreneurship and self-reliance by connecting producers directly with consumers.

A total budget of ₹5,000 crore was allocated. States must provide land free or cover acquisition costs. The government approved projects worth ₹4,796 crore for 27 states in FY 2023-24.
