In the 2025 season, ICG achieved milestones. They protected 6.98 lakh Olive Ridley turtles during the nesting season. The operation involved over 5,387 surface patrol sorties and 1,768 aerial surveillance missions. ICG detained 366 boats engaged in illegal fishing, demonstrating their enforcement capabilities.
Community Engagement and Technology
ICG promotes the use of Turtle Excluder Devices among local fishermen. This helps reduce accidental turtle catches. The initiative also includes raising awareness through community engagement. Collaborations with states like Karnataka have started geo-tagging turtles for monitoring their movements.
