Noida International Airport Inauguration Scheduled for January 2026

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that the Noida International Airport at Jewar will be inaugurated in January 2026. The announcement was made during the concluding day of the Winter Session of the state legislature. Once operational, the facility will become Uttar Pradesh’s fifth international airport and a major aviation hub in northern India.

Expansion of Aviation Infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh

Addressing the House, the chief minister highlighted the sharp growth in aviation infrastructure since 2017. He noted that before this period, only two airports in the state were fully functional, with two operating partially. At present, 16 airports are functional across Uttar Pradesh. Of these, four have international status, with the Noida International Airport set to join the list as the fifth.

Jewar Airport as India’s Largest Aviation Project

The upcoming Noida International Airport is being developed as a greenfield project in the Jewar area of Gautam Buddh Nagar. The chief minister stated that it will be India’s largest airport in terms of area and capacity once fully developed. The project is being executed under the public-private partnership model to ensure long-term operational efficiency.

Transport Connectivity and Economic Impact

Beyond aviation, the state government emphasised parallel growth in expressways, rail networks, and urban transport systems. Uttar Pradesh now holds a significant share of India’s expressway network. Metro services have expanded in major cities, and inter-state road connectivity has improved. The Jewar airport is expected to strengthen logistics, tourism, and investment flows across western Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital Region.
