NETC Mapper

NETC Mapper is a critical back-end infrastructure component of India’s National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) ecosystem. It functions as a centralised database that maps FASTag identifiers to issuing banks and customer accounts, enabling seamless interoperability, authentication, and settlement of electronic toll transactions. Although largely invisible to end users, NETC Mapper plays a foundational role in integrating transport payments with the banking system and supporting the efficiency of India’s digital payment architecture.

Concept and Meaning of NETC Mapper

NETC Mapper is a central repository that maintains mapping information for FASTags issued across the country. Each FASTag is uniquely linked to a vehicle and an issuing bank or payment service provider. Once the issuing bank is identified, the transaction request is routed to the appropriate bank for balance verification and debit. After successful authorisation, the transaction is completed, and settlement occurs through NPCI’s clearing mechanism.
