National DMF Summit 2026 Focuses on Fund Utilisation

The Ministry of Mines will host the National District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Summit 2026 on March 23–24 at the SCOPE Convention Centre, New Delhi. The summit, centred on improving the utilisation of DMF funds, will bring together policymakers, administrators and experts to enhance development outcomes in mining-affected regions, especially under the Aspirational District Programme (ADP) and Aspirational Block Programme (ABP).

Objective and policy focus

The summit aims to strengthen coordination between the Centre, States and district administrations while identifying reforms for better planning and implementation of DMF funds. The focus is on ensuring that these funds are utilised efficiently to deliver measurable improvements in socio-economic conditions in mining-affected areas.

Participants and consultations

The two-day event will see participation from Central ministries, State governments, district officials, NITI Aayog and other stakeholders. It follows an extensive consultative process, including a concept note shared in January 2026, virtual consultations, and State-level discussions. Inputs gathered from 306 DMF districts have been compiled into a comprehensive reference document for the summit.

Thematic areas and deliberations

Key discussions will revolve around governance, transparency, convergence with development schemes, and impact assessment of DMF-funded projects. Presentations by States, NITI Aayog and technical agencies will highlight best practices and challenges. The aim is to build a consensus on actionable reforms for improving fund utilisation and monitoring mechanisms.
