Multi layer farming
Multi layer farming, multi tiered farming or multi-storeyed farming is the practice of simultaneously cultivating crops of different height that are compatible with each other on the same field. This is done to ensure optimum use of solar energy by the crops and eventually to increase productivity. This is generally practiced in orchards and in cultivation of cash crops. ICAR is creating awareness programs on the benefits of multi layer farming for farmers.
