Mukhya Mantrir Jiban Anuprerana Scheme

The Mukhya Mantrir Jiban Anuprerana Scheme was launched by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in 2025. This initiative aims to provide financial support to research scholars in Assam, particularly focusing on those with disabilities. The scheme is notable for being the first of its kind in the state, designed to boost research and development.
Financial Assistance for Research Scholars
The scheme offers a one-time financial grant of Rs 25,000 for full-time research scholars. Divyang researchers are eligible for a higher amount of Rs 40,000. This financial support is crucial for scholars to pursue their research without financial burdens. The scheme is open to permanent residents of Assam enrolled in public institutions, including state and central universities.
Transparent Government Processes
Alongside the launch of the Mukhya Mantrir Jiban Anuprerana Scheme, the Chief Minister introduced the Swagata Satirtha Portal. This platform simplifies the mutual transfer process for government employees. It aims to make the transfer system more transparent and efficient. A total of 9,004 Grade III and IV employees benefited from this initiative, marking step towards streamlined government operations.
Commitment to Employee Welfare
The Assam government has shown a strong commitment to employee welfare. Chief Minister Sarma brought into light that Assam is one of the few states that offers dearness allowance and relief on par with the central government. The government has implemented a merit-based, transparent procedure for job appointments, ensuring fairness in recruitment.
Support for Housing and Education
The government has also introduced housing loan schemes like ‘Apun Ghar’. Initially set at Rs 15 lakh, the loan amount has now been increased to Rs 30 lakh in response to employee requests. Additionally, the Nijut Moina scheme provides monthly financial assistance to students, further promoting education and empowerment, especially for girls.
Impact on Research and Development
The Mukhya Mantrir Jiban Anuprerana Scheme is expected to have a deep impact on research and development in Assam. By alleviating financial constraints, the scheme empowers scholars to complete their research on time. This initiative aims to enhance employability in educational institutions, encouraging a culture of innovation and academic excellence.
