MLATrack Portal Launched to Monitor Kerala MLA Interventions
A new digital platform, MLATrack.com, has been launched to provide comprehensive insights into the legislative activities of Members of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. Developed by Atyeti Research in collaboration with Sahya Digital Conservation Foundation, the portal covers the period from 2021 to 2026 and aims to enhance transparency and public engagement in legislative processes.
Key Features of the MLATrack Platform
The website offers detailed profiles of all 140 MLAs, including biodata, constituency maps, and visual data on attendance, questions, and interventions. It provides date-wise records of legislative activities such as submissions, calling attention motions, and adjournment motions. Users can also access questions raised by MLAs along with hyperlinks to official answers, making it a valuable resource for tracking legislative performance.
Data Sources and Accessibility
The platform is built using publicly available data from the Kerala Legislative Assembly website and the Legislative Assembly Constituency Asset Development Scheme portal. It is designed as a user-friendly repository for citizens, researchers, and media professionals to understand legislative functioning without any subjective analysis or ranking of MLAs.
Insights into Legislative Activity
The database reveals that over 68,000 questions, both starred and unstarred, were raised across 16 Assembly sessions between 2021 and 2026. Several MLAs have asked more than 1,000 questions, while 45 members recorded attendance exceeding 95%. Many legislators participated in over 100 debates, and some introduced private member Bills and resolutions, indicating active legislative engagement.
