MeitY to Host BHASHINI Samudaye Workshop on Language AI Ecosystem

The Digital India BHASHINI Division under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology will organise “BHASHINI Samudaye: Strengthening India’s Language AI Ecosystem” on 13 January 2026 at Nalanda Hall, Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi. The workshop aims to deepen collaboration among stakeholders working on multilingual artificial intelligence in India.

BHASHINI Samudaye and National Language Mission

BHASHINI Samudaye is a BHASHINI-led collaborative initiative that brings together language experts, academic institutions, civil society organisations and data practitioners. The initiative supports BHASHINI’s mandate under the National Language Translation Mission to eliminate language barriers and ensure inclusive access to digital services in all Indian languages. It emphasises co-creation, participatory governance and ethical data practices as core principles.

Leadership Vision and Ecosystem Partnerships

Senior leadership from MeitY and the Digital India BHASHINI Division will outline BHASHINI’s vision for building a coordinated, sovereign and inclusive language AI ecosystem anchored in public digital infrastructure. A fireside chat featuring Amitabh Nag, Chief Executive Officer, Digital India BHASHINI Division, will reflect on the evolution of BHASHINI as a national platform and the role of ecosystem partnerships in scaling multilingual AI for governance, education and public service delivery.

Platform Expansion and Community Participation

Focused sessions will discuss BHASHINI’s platform capabilities, strategic priorities and collaboration pathways with states and implementation partners. Shailendra Pal Singh will present the roadmap for platform expansion and ecosystem engagement. The workshop will also include live demonstrations of BHASHINI in action, including real-world use cases and a walkthrough of BhashaDaan, the citizen contribution platform, highlighting community-led data creation.

Data Partnerships and Inclusive AI Governance

Post-lunch deliberations will include a walkthrough of the Expression of Interest to strengthen data systems, aimed at building ethical, inclusive and scalable data partnerships. With contributions from academia, startups and civil society, the workshop will conclude by reaffirming BHASHINI’s leadership in advancing democratised and inclusive language AI for India’s social and economic empowerment.
