LEAPS 2025 Launched to Promote Innovation and Efficiency in Logistics

The Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry launched the Logistics Excellence, Advancement, and Performance Shield (LEAPS) 2025. This initiative aligns with the National Logistics Policy (NLP) and PM GatiShakti vision. It aims to benchmark and reward best practices in the logistics sector. LEAPS 2025 encourages innovation, sustainability, and collaboration among diverse logistics stakeholders across India.
Background and Launch
LEAPS 2025 was revealed during the 4th anniversary of PM GatiShakti at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. It is a flagship programme under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). The initiative recognises efforts to improve logistics efficiency and competitiveness nationwide. Registrations for the awards opened in 2025 with a deadline of 15th November.
Scope and Coverage
LEAPS 2025 covers a wide range of logistics players. These include air, road, sea, and rail freight operators. It also includes warehousing providers, multimodal transporters, MSMEs, startups, and academic institutions. The initiative is designed to encourage innovation and leadership across the entire logistics ecosystem.
Categories for Recognition
The awards are divided into 13 categories – – Core Logistics – Air, Road, Maritime, Rail Freight; Multimodal Transport Operators; Warehousing (Industrial, Consumables, Agriculture) – MSME – Logistics Service Providers – Startups – Technology and Operations Service Providers – Institutions – Education institutes promoting logistics – Special – E-commerce logistics delivery; Multimodal logistics services such as 3PL, freight forwarding, and customs brokerage
Focus on Sustainability and ESG
LEAPS 2025 emphasises Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices. It promotes green logistics to reduce environmental impact. Collaboration between government, industry, and academia is encouraged to improve transparency and resilience. This focus supports India’s commitment to sustainable development.
