Indian Army’s ‘Amogh Fury’ Integrated Firepower Exercise

The Indian Army’s Sapta Shakti Command recently conducted a major integrated firepower exercise named ‘Amogh Fury’ at the Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan’s Thar desert. This drill tested combat power, coordination, and operational readiness in simulated battle conditions. It showcased the Army’s preparedness for multi-domain operations using advanced technology and combined arms tactics.

Exercise Overview

‘Amogh Fury’ involved coordinated manoeuvres of battle tanks, infantry combat vehicles, attack helicopters, long-range artillery, and drones. These platforms worked together to demonstrate the Army’s ability to synchronise ground and air forces. The exercise aimed to improve both offensive and defensive capabilities in real-time scenarios.

Integration of Modern Technologies

A key focus was on network-centric communication and command-and-control systems. Real-time surveillance and targeting technologies were employed to create a unified operational picture. This integration enhanced decision-making and coordination among diverse units, enabling faster and more accurate responses.

Operational Readiness and Training

The drill provided pragmatic training for soldiers at all ranks under realistic combat conditions. It helped refine procedures to counter emerging threats. The exercise tested the Army’s ability to operate cohesively with advanced technology in complex environments.

Multi-Domain Synergy

The observed synergy between combat arms, support units, and services brought into light efforts to develop a cohesive, technology-driven response for modern warfare. Combining land and air assets ensured flexibility and effectiveness in dynamic battlefield situations.

Significance for Future Warfare

‘Amogh Fury’ reflects a shift towards integrated multi-domain operations. It puts stress on the importance of synchronising different combat elements using modern systems. This approach prepares the Army to face evolving security challenges with enhanced operational agility.
