India to Host Women’s Champions Trophy

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named India as the host of the inaugural Women’s Champions Trophy for 2027. The tournament will run from 14 February to 28 February 2027 and will feature six teams in a Twenty20 International (T20I) round-robin format followed by a final.

Host Selection and Governance

Sri Lanka was removed as host after unresolved governance issues and government interference within Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). The ICC evaluated Bangladesh, India, and South Africa as replacement hosts before selecting India under its host evaluation criteria.

Tournament Format and Schedule

The Women’s Champions Trophy will include Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. The top two teams after the league stage will meet in the final on 28 February 2027.

Venues and Qualification

The confirmed venues are the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai and the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium. Team qualification was based on the ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings after the 2026 T20 World Cup, with 6 July 2026 used as the cut-off date.
