India Invited to 52nd G7 Summit

French President Emmanuel Macron invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the 52nd G7 Summit, which France will preside over in 2026. The summit is scheduled from 15 to 17 June 2026 in Évian-les-Bains, Haute-Savoie, France. India is not a permanent member of the G7 and has been invited as a special guest.

G7 and Its Membership

The Group of Seven, or G7, is an intergovernmental forum of seven advanced economies. Its members are Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The European Union also participates in G7 meetings as a non-enumerated member.

France’s Presidency of the G7

France will hold the G7 presidency in 2026. The presidency rotates annually among member states and determines the host country and agenda of the summit. The 52nd G7 Summit will be the annual leaders’ meeting under France’s chairmanship.

India-France Engagement in 2026

President Macron extended the invitation during his official visit to India from 17 to 19 February 2026. The visit included participation in the Artificial Intelligence Impact Summit. An ad hoc India-France meeting is proposed before the G7 Summit in Évian to discuss the international agenda and global imbalances.
