India Abstains on UNGA Climate Resolution

India abstained on 20 May 2026 in a United Nations General Assembly resolution on climate change obligations. The resolution was adopted with 141 votes in favour, eight against, and 28 abstentions, and it referred to a July 2025 advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice on states’ legal obligations on climate change.
