India has taken a significant step in strengthening its deep tech innovation ecosystem with IIT Bombay unveiling the country’s first academia-linked deep tech venture capital fund. The Rs 250-crore initiative aims to accelerate the transition of high-end research into scalable commercial ventures.

Launch of the Y-Point Venture Capital Fund

The Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE) at IIT Bombay has introduced the Y-Point Venture Capital Fund, the first deep tech VC fund managed by an incubator in India. It is designed to offer early-stage financial support and strategic guidance to startups working on breakthrough technologies.

The fund targets emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Advanced Computing, Advanced Manufacturing, Advanced Materials, Nuclear Technology, Space and Defence, Climate and CleanTech, and Life Sciences.
