Great Frost of 1709

The Great Frost was an extremely cold winter in Europe in 1708-1709. It is the coldest European winter over the last 500 years. It came during Maunder Minimum. Last year, the United Kingdom suffered the worst of the economic crisis since the great frost of 1709. The economy declined by 9.9 per cent due to the pandemic crisis. This is far worse than the performance during 2009 financial crisis.
