Government Launches TEAM Initiative to Boost MSME E-Commerce Participation
The Trade Enablement and Marketing (TEAM) Initiative, a sub-scheme under the Centre’s RAMP programme, has been introduced to strengthen digital market access for India’s micro and small enterprises. With an outlay of ₹277.35 crore for 2024–2027, the Central Sector Scheme aims to integrate MSMEs into the digital economy through government-backed digital infrastructure and targeted capacity-building.
Integration with ONDC for Digital Commerce
A key feature of the TEAM Initiative is its linkage with the Open Network for Digital Commerce, which provides MSMEs with ready-made storefronts, digital payments and logistics support. By leveraging ONDC’s interoperable framework, enterprises can onboard and list their products without needing to develop independent e-commerce platforms, significantly reducing technological and financial barriers.
Digital Onboarding and Business Profiling
The TEAM portal enables seamless registration of MSMEs, capturing detailed business profiles and matching them with Seller Network Participants for efficient onboarding. This system supports catalogue creation, order management and continued digital handholding, helping enterprises improve visibility and competitiveness in online marketplaces.
Capacity-Building and Inclusive Growth
The initiative includes workshops, training modules and advisory support to help entrepreneurs build digital literacy and leverage e-commerce opportunities. The scheme is designed to benefit five lakh micro and small enterprises, with at least 50% of the beneficiaries envisioned to be women-owned units. This aligns with broader goals of inclusive growth and gender empowerment within the MSME sector.
