Good Governance Practices 2025 Workshop Inaugurated in Delhi

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, and Minister of State in the PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh, inaugurated the National Workshop on Good Governance Practices 2025 in New Delhi. The event was organised on the occasion of Good Governance Day, observed annually on December 25, and brought together senior government officers, policymakers and key stakeholders.

Good Governance as an Administrative Responsibility

Addressing the gathering, Dr Jitendra Singh underlined that good governance is not an abstract ideal but a daily administrative responsibility rooted in transparency, accountability and citizen-centric service delivery. He noted the special significance of Good Governance Day, which coincides with the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who institutionalised probity in public life and laid the foundations of people-first governance in India.

Governance Reforms Since 2014

The Minister stated that while the concept of good governance had been articulated earlier, its effective implementation gained momentum after 2014 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He highlighted the guiding mantra of “Minimum Government, Maximum Governance” as the driving force behind administrative reforms focused on efficiency, responsiveness and outcomes rather than procedures.

Five Key Initiatives Launched by DoPT

On the occasion, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) launched five major initiatives to strengthen governance processes. These include a consolidated Compendium of Guidelines on Reservation for Ex-Servicemen, an AI-powered Recruitment Rules Generator integrated with the RRFAMS portal, and a mobile application for e-HRMS 2.0 under Mission Karmayogi. Additional initiatives include new AI-enabled features on the iGOT Karmayogi platform and the launch of the Karmayogi Digital Learning Lab 2.0, aimed at enhancing capacity building through advanced digital technologies.

Secretary, DoPT, Rachna Shah, highlighted the impact of the nationwide Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore campaign conducted during Good Governance Week, covering over 700 districts. Dr Jitendra Singh concluded that the initiatives launched reflect a future-oriented governance framework that leverages technology, strengthens institutions and places citizens and civil servants at the centre of reform, carrying forward the enduring legacy of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
