Goa CM Launches Davem–Sanvordem Bridge Project

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant laid the foundation stone for the new Davem–Sanvordem bridge in Sattari taluka, marking a major infrastructure push aimed at improving connectivity in the region. The Rs 29.9 crore project is expected to replace the existing narrow single-lane bridge and significantly ease traffic movement for residents and commuters.

Project Details and Execution

The two-lane bridge will connect Davem and Sanvordem villages in Sattari. It will be constructed by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) on behalf of the Public Works Department (PWD).

The design includes footpaths on both sides to ensure pedestrian safety. The project also covers the construction of approach roads to streamline traffic flow and enhance accessibility. The upgraded structure will replace the current single-lane bridge, which has long been considered inadequate for growing vehicular movement.

Improved Connectivity and Reduced Travel Distance

According to the Chief Minister, the new bridge will reduce travel distance by approximately 7–8 kilometres for commuters heading towards Ponda and South Goa. Motorists will also be able to bypass the congested Valpoi market, resulting in savings in time and fuel.

The improved connectivity is expected to benefit daily commuters, school students, traders and transport operators who rely on this route for movement between interior Sattari and other parts of the state.

Economic and Local Development Impact

The project is anticipated to enhance local mobility and support economic activity in nearby villages. Improved road infrastructure often leads to better access to markets, healthcare and educational institutions.

The presence of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane at the foundation ceremony underlined the government’s focus on strengthening rural infrastructure. The bridge is expected to contribute to safer travel, smoother traffic management and overall improvement in quality of life for residents of Sattari.
