Rashtriya Mahila Kosh
Rashtriya Mahila Kosh was established in 1993 as a Society with an initial corpus of Rs. 31 crore, which has been raised to Rs. 100 crore by additions to the corpus made between 2006-07 to 2011-12. It extends micro-credit to poor and underprivileged women through a collateral-free, quasi-formal delivery mechanism where NGOs, women co-operatives, federations etc. act as intermediaries. In the latest Union Budget, it was proposed to to restructure the scheme by converting it into a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) from 2012-13.
