Faizan Azizi Advocates for Social Inclusion at the UN World Summit
At the United Nations’ Second World Summit for Social Development held in Doha, Dr. Faizan Ahmed Azizi, President and Chief Representative of the Human Social Care Foundation (HSCF), underscored the need for social inclusion to be the cornerstone of all public policies. Representing India, Dr. Azizi urged global leaders to adopt inclusive frameworks to address poverty, inequality and unemployment.
Revisiting the Copenhagen Declaration
The summit, organised at the Qatar National Convention Centre between November 3 and 6, 2025, reviewed the progress made since the 1995 Copenhagen Declaration and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Dr. Azizi pointed out that despite three decades of efforts, many targets remain unmet. Citing the UN SDG Progress Report 2025, he revealed that nearly half of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are off track due to ongoing conflicts, climate challenges, and economic disparity.
Warning Against Governance Failures
Highlighting the adverse effects of corruption and weak governance, Dr. Azizi cautioned that poor administration in developing nations continues to deepen inequality. He remarked that public health systems are overwhelmed, education is increasingly commercialised, and vulnerable communities face exclusion. He reiterated that without justice and accountability, both the Copenhagen Declaration and the UN Agenda 2030 risk collapse.
India–Qatar Youth Employment Corridor
Among his proposals, Dr. Azizi suggested the establishment of a Qatar–India Youth Employment Corridor to promote ethical labour mobility. The initiative would create “Qatar-Ready Skill Hubs” in India, co-certified by Qatari employers, to train underprivileged youth and ensure dignified employment abroad. He emphasised that over 700,000 Indian workers in Qatar could benefit from structured certification and training frameworks under this model.
