Delhi Expands Ayushman Arogya Mandirs Network

The Delhi government has strengthened its primary healthcare infrastructure with the launch of 81 new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, marking a significant expansion of accessible public health services across the national capital. The inauguration coincided with Makar Sankranti and reflects the administration’s stated objective of universal, neighbourhood-level healthcare delivery.

Expansion of Primary Healthcare Facilities

With the addition of the new centres, the total number of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in Delhi has reached 319. The newly inaugurated facilities are located in the Hari Nagar Assembly constituency. The government has reiterated its target of establishing at least 15 such centres in every Assembly constituency and scaling the network to 1,100 facilities citywide. These centres function as the first point of contact for preventive, promotive, and basic curative care.

Services and Digital Health Integration

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reviewed clinical and administrative arrangements at the Hari Nagar centre, including outpatient departments, laboratories, medicine counters, vaccination units, and maternal and child healthcare services. Emphasis was placed on digital registration systems and electronic health records to ensure transparency and ease of access. Patients can now book OPD appointments and access medical records through mobile platforms, reducing waiting time and manual processes.

Alignment with Ayushman Bharat and Welfare Measures

The expansion aligns with the broader Ayushman Bharat framework. More than six lakh residents in Delhi have been registered under the scheme, with thousands of families availing free treatment benefits. The government has also increased the income eligibility limit for the Economically Weaker Sections from ₹2.5 lakh to ₹5 lakh annually, widening the beneficiary base.
