The Union government has announced plans for the comprehensive development of the historic Kondaveedu Fort in Andhra Pradesh, underscoring its heritage, cultural and tourism potential. The announcement was made during festival celebrations in Palnadu district, positioning the fort as a focal point for heritage conservation and sustainable tourism.

Union Minister of State “Pemmasani Chandrasekhar” said detailed plans would be drawn up to unlock Kondaveedu Fort’s potential as a major tourist destination. He was accompanied by “Prathipati Pullarao” and “Lavu Krishnadevarayalu”. The minister highlighted that Kondaveedu symbolises valour and played a key role in safeguarding Hindu empires during the rule of the Reddy kings.

The minister noted that the Kondaveedu region once flourished as an important centre of Telugu literature, sculpture and painting. The fort and its surroundings reflect the cultural vibrancy of medieval Andhra, showcasing architectural and artistic traditions that shaped Telugu identity over centuries. Apart from its historical significance, Kondaveedu also attracts nature enthusiasts and trekkers due to its towering hills and scenic ghat roads.
