C-DOT’s first major success was the development of the Rural Automatic Exchange (RAX) and Small Rural Automatic Exchange (SRAX) systems in the late 1980s. These digital switching systems were designed to work in high-temperature, dusty, and power-deficient rural environments, providing reliable telephone connectivity to remote villages for the first time.
The RAX system became a symbol of India’s technological empowerment, leading to the rapid expansion of telecom services across rural areas. The introduction of the Digital Switching System (DSS) series further strengthened the national network by improving call routing efficiency and connectivity between rural and urban centres.

Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) Platforms: C-DOT designs integrated IoT platforms for smart infrastructure such as Smart Cities, environmental monitoring, and industrial automation. Its Common Service Platform for M2M enables large-scale device connectivity and management.
  5. Disaster Management Communication Systems: The Early Warning and Alert Dissemination System (EWDS) developed by C-DOT is deployed in disaster-prone coastal states to deliver real-time cyclone and tsunami alerts through multiple communication channels.
  6. Secure Communication Solutions for Defence: C-DOT provides encrypted communication networks for defence and paramilitary agencies, including secure routers, switches, and satellite-based communication systems.
