Carbon border agreement

Carbon border agreement

Carbon border agreement is one of the plans proposed by the European Green Deal. It involves the extension of carbon taxes and carbon emission trading to cross- border systems. This includes the use of carbon border adjustment- a tax on imported goods depending upon the carbon emission associated with its production. It is aimed at nudging ‘less determined countries’- especially developing countries- to transition away from fossil fuel use.
