Assam Unveils Welfare Scheme for Udasin Bhakats at Satras

The Assam government has announced a dedicated welfare initiative for ‘Udasin Bhakats’, celibate monks residing in the state’s historic satras. Under the new initiative, each eligible Udasin Bhakat will receive a monthly assistance of Rs 1,500. According to the Chief Minister’s Office, around 620 monks across recognised satras are expected to benefit. The support is intended to meet basic personal needs and offer a measure of financial security to monks who traditionally depend on community offerings and limited institutional resources.
