ANVESH–2026 to Focus on Sustainable Healthy Foods

The National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, Kundli (NIFTEM-K), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), will organise the “International Conference on Advanced Next Generation Vision for Emerging and Sustainable Healthy Foods (ANVESH–2026)” from 26–28 February 2026. The three-day event is expected to bring together over 1,000 delegates from more than 25 countries.

Senior officials, including the Secretary, MoFPI, highlighted that the conference will serve as a global platform for researchers, industry leaders and policymakers to deliberate on innovation and sustainability in food systems.

Strengthening India’s Food Processing Sector

The Ministry noted that nearly ₹15,000 crore has been invested in the food processing sector over the past four to five years. Currently, only 12–13 per cent of India’s food produce is processed. The government has set a target to increase this share to 25 per cent within the next five years.

Despite being largely unorganised, the sector has recorded a compound annual growth rate of around 7 per cent over the past decade. Processed food exports have doubled during this period, reflecting growing global demand.

Focus on Technology, Packaging and Value Addition

Officials emphasised that advanced food technology and scientific packaging are essential to extend shelf life and reduce wastage. Post-harvest losses, estimated at nearly ₹1.10 lakh crore annually, can be significantly curtailed through modern processing techniques.

The conference will promote the concept of “Food as Medicine” and encourage innovation, value addition and sustainable food systems.

Global Participation and Key Themes

Eminent experts from international institutions such as CGIAR, McGill University, Wageningen University & Research, Volcani Institute and The University of Queensland will participate alongside Indian scientists, exporters, startups and policymakers. Special addresses are scheduled from senior government representatives and policy institutions.
