Adi Sanskriti Digital Platform

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs launched the Beta Version of Adi Sanskriti in September 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. This digital platform aims to preserve tribal artforms, promote cultural heritage, and enable sustainable livelihoods for tribal communities. It marks step in blending tradition with modern technology and connecting tribal artisans with global markets.
Adi Sanskriti
Adi Sanskriti is envisioned as the world’s first Digital University dedicated to tribal culture. It combines education, heritage preservation, and economic empowerment. The platform offers immersive learning, a vast cultural repository, and an online marketplace for tribal products. It serves as a one-stop digital space for tribal knowledge, art, and commerce.
Three Core Components
Adi Sanskriti is built on three main pillars:
- Adi Vishwavidyalaya (Digital Tribal Art Academy): Offers 45 courses on tribal dance, music, painting, crafts, and folklore. These courses are designed for learners globally to experience tribal traditions digitally.
- Adi Sampada (Socio-Cultural Repository): Hosts over 5,000 curated documents across five themes—dance, painting, textiles, artefacts, and livelihoods. It acts as a digital archive preserving tribal heritage.
- Adi Haat (Online Marketplace): Initially linked with TRIFED, this e-marketplace enables direct consumer access to tribal artisans’ products, encouraging sustainable incomes and wider market reach.
Collaboration with Tribal Research Institutes
The platform is developed in partnership with State Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs) to ensure authenticity and grassroots involvement. In its first phase, 15 state TRIs from Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh contributed to documentation and digital mapping of tribal artforms. This collaboration ensures diversity and cultural accuracy.
Government Vision and Future Expansion
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs aims to expand Adi Sanskriti into a full-fledged Tribal Digital University. Future plans include adding more courses, enriching the cultural repository, and enhancing the online marketplace. The platform will offer certifications, advanced research opportunities, and innovative learning pathways. It aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, empowering tribal communities as active participants in the digital economy.
Impact
Adi Sanskriti integrates preservation, education, and livelihood in a single platform. It safeguards tribal traditions while promoting economic empowerment. The initiative builds on earlier tools like Adi Vaani, an AI-based tribal language translator. By digitising tribal culture, it creates global access and awareness, ensuring that tribal heritage remains vibrant and relevant in the modern world.
