  • Installed Capacity: The maximum continuous output rating of generation equipment, used for long-term planning and capacity assessment.
  • Base Load: The minimum continuous electricity demand on a grid over a 24-hour cycle. It is usually met by plants suited for steady operation.
  • Peak Load: The highest demand on the grid during a day, season, or year, generally met by flexible and quick-start sources.
  • Merit Order Despatch: A system of scheduling power stations according to their marginal cost of generation, with lower-cost sources generally dispatched first.
  • AT&C Losses: Aggregate Technical and Commercial losses, combining technical losses in transmission and distribution with commercial losses such as theft, unbilled consumption, metering errors, and poor collection.

  • Grey Hydrogen: Hydrogen produced from natural gas or methane through Steam Methane Reforming (SMR), with carbon dioxide released directly into the atmosphere.
  • Blue Hydrogen: Hydrogen produced through SMR in which the carbon emissions are captured and stored using Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS).
  • Green Hydrogen: Hydrogen produced by splitting water through electrolysis powered entirely by renewable energy.
  • Green Ammonia: Ammonia produced using green hydrogen and atmospheric nitrogen through the Haber-Bosch process, powered by renewable energy.
